Fortnite has continued to feature some of the biggest names in Marvel. From the introduction of Spider-Man and Wolverine skins to in-game events completely centered around Marvel names, Fortnite has been the premiere spot for crossovers with the brand. Each Marvel collaboration has been a big hit for Fortnite, especially when it comes to the villains it showcases.

Recently, one of Marvel’s biggest villains took center stage in Fortnite. As the focus of Chapter 5 Season 4, Doctor Doom served as the season’s centerpiece. References to The Fantastic Four and featuring the powerful demon Mephisto brought Fortnite another fun bundle of Marvel content for players to enjoy. Between Doctor Doom, the massive Galactus event back in 2020, and 2018’s Thanos event, Fortnite has put some of Marvel’s biggest villains front and center. However, one villain whose time in the MCU was cut short could find a second chance in Fortnite‘s next Marvel crossover; Kang the Conqueror.

Fans in the Fortnite community express frustration at what they feel is too high a price to pay for the game’s Kicks cosmetics.

Fortnite is the Perfect Stage For a Kang the Conqueror Showcase

Kang the Conqueror was intended to be the MCU’s next main villain. However, after actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault, Marvel parted ways with him, immediately removing Kang from the MCU’s future plans. There has been hope that another actor may take on the role, but with Robert Downey Jr. making a surprising return as Doctor Doom, it seems as though the MCU has switched its focus to a completely new villain. Despite the controversy, Kang held a lot of potential as a villainous centerpiece for the MCU’s current phase.

Kang’s place in the MCU storyline may be defunct now, but Fortnite now has the perfect opportunity to showcase the Marvel villain and the extent of his powers. It may not be as major as a full-blown film series arc, but it could give Kang a brief moment back in the spotlight. Fortnite‘s Chapter 5 Season 4 was likely a strategic team-up in order to hype up Doctor Doom’s place in the future movies, but the game could also give Kang a fun send-off with an epic power-filled event.

Marvel Comics first introduced Kang the Conqueror in Fantastic Four issue #19 back in 1963.

Fortnite’s Doctor Doom Feature Was Well-Timed

  • The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25, 2025

As the superhero team’s biggest foe, Fortnite introducing Doctor Doom after Marvel’s Robert Downey Jr. casting announcement is unlikely to be just a mere coincidence. Despite Doctor Doom taking Kang’s spot, the latter is a strong fit for Fortnite due to his potential as a fun skin. Even better, an in-game event could keep players on their toes and be a thrilling challenge, thanks to Kang’s use of advanced technology.

Fortnite’s Next Marvel Crossover Has Yet to Be Confirmed

With Chapter 5 Season 4 still being relatively fresh in the minds of players, it may be a while before Fortnite introduces another huge Marvel crossover. Skins are likely to show up, but an entire season centered around a central Marvel villain is likely to be a ways off. Leaks about potential Fortnite skins are incredibly common in the game’s community, so it will be interesting to see if more Marvel faces pop up among these rumors in the coming months leading up to The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular foursome.

It remains to be seen if Kang will ever get a chance to bring chaos to Fortnite‘s map, but foregoing such an event could be a missed opportunity. Unfortunately, the ship may have sailed on a Kang crossover. The villain has largely been swept aside, making any potential arrival to Fortnite feel like a pipe dream. Fortnite could always surprise Marvel fans, but with Doctor Doom now leading the way, Kang may be stuck on the sidelines.
