Overwatch 2 fans have good reason to be excited for Wednesday, February 12. Overwatch dominated the hero shooter genre for years, with competitors failing to match its popularity and many of them fizzling out. That’s changed in recent months with the launch of Marvel Rivals, a Marvel Comics-themed hero shooter that’s taken the gaming industry by storm. With millions flocking to Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2 is coming out swinging in 2025 with ambitious plans for the new year that will hopefully draw lapsed players back to the game and maybe even convince newcomers to see what all the fuss is about.
Overwatch 2 has been making an effort to appeal to lapsed fans through things like 6v6 tests that are attempting to see if a return to the 2 Tank, 2 Damage, and 2 Support format is possible with the changes that have been made to the game. 6v6 is not a permanent part of the Overwatch 2 experience yet, and it remains to be seen if it will be or if the game will ultimately stick with 5v5. Time will tell on that front, but in the meantime, Overwatch 2 fans will be getting some concrete answers about the hero shooter’s future come February 12.
