Developed by the French indie studio Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will take place in a dark fantasy world and feature a turn-based combat system reminiscent of the Persona games. Players will embark on a quest across varied landscapes to stop the Paintress, an all-powerful being able to kill everyone of a certain age by painting a number in the sky. The unique story and polished art style quickly became a hot topic following its reveal in 2024, with its star-studded cast also wowing the community. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s voice cast will include Ben Starr (Final Fantasy 16), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), and Devora Wilde (Baldur’s Gate 3), among others.

During the Xbox Developer Direct on January 23, it was announced that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be available as a day one Xbox Game Pass title on April 24. It has also been confirmed that the RPG will receive enhancement boosts on the PlayStation 5 Pro, though the specifics have not yet been announced.
