But even beyond that, Rebirth also sprinkles dozens of interesting landmarks and quests around the world with the reckless abandon of a baker during powdered sugar time. The majority of these spots can easily be found while exploring, or even in the process of completing the game’s hefty list of side quests. However, there’s always more to find in a map as massive as this one, and there’s a good chance you’ve missed at least a couple of these.
Updated on January 30, 2025 by Dan Conlin: The recent launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC has brought a whole new audience to the game with a whole new set of eyes to explore every bit of its massive maps. There’s always something new to discover, and fans have found new secrets since launch, giving new players even more surprises to find as they enjoy this incredible game for the first time.
10
Unexpected Romance In Kalm
- Location: Grasslands region, Kalm, south side
Nearly at the start of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can find a little nook in the starting town of Kalm where two people are fighting. It’s so nice when video games are accurate to real life. In this case, the women in question are arguing after finding out they’ve both been dating the same two-timing man. Will the relatability never cease?
Their spat continues and evolves throughout the game if you keep coming back, and if you check in with them much later, you’ll find that the two of them have actually become a couple themselves. It’s super heartwarming to see, and they adorably hold hands as they suggest going on a date to the Golden Saucer. Here’s hoping they don’t try for that Shinra Middle Manager trophy, though. That could ruin any relationship.

A Hidden Concert
- Location: Grasslands region, Kalm, south side
For the first town you visit in the game, Kalm has a surprising amount of depth. Just like the rest of the game, it’s packed with detail and even some callbacks. For those who enjoyed all the little side things going on in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, this one’s for you.
On the south side of Kalm’s Village Center level, you’ll find a little concert being put on by none other than Akira, whom you might have last seen as a struggling karaoke singer in Remake. It’s a real concert, too. He performs three entire songs for your pleasure and that of the modest crowd he’s drawn. Grab a refreshing potion and settle in for some tunes.

The Grasslands Port
- Location: Grasslands region, west of Kalm
As the first major sprawling area where you can roam around in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the Grasslands offers a modestly-sized map to explore, so you don’t get too overwhelmed right out of the gate. Most of the game’s core ideas are established here, like finding a chocobo to ride, clearing side quests, and the positively endearing card-based pastime known as Queen’s Blood.
The thing is, you might have missed out on a little teaser of things to come, namely the hidden away port where you can dock Cid’s plucky little Tiny Bronco once its wings have been effectively (and literally) clipped. You can actually find this spot right from the first time you step out into the world, provided you head all the way west in the area’s arid northwestern section. Plus, there’s even a materia there. Have at it, Yuffie.
7
Frog Time
- Location: Junon region, Under Junon, south side
In the Junon region, you’re given the opportunity to slow down and enjoy life in a very different, very slippery way. Of course, this is assuming you slowed down enough to find this quest in the first place. Once you finish the boss fight in Under Junon and take a nap, you find yourself confronted by the fabulous and unfortunately un-dateable Roche. He beckons you to follow him up to Junon, but those who stick around will find possibly one of the most delightful moments in the game.
Heading to the nearby mission board will net you the Calling All Frogs quest. The ping on the map puts it right by the winding entrance to Under Junon, but to actually find the client, you need to head down to the bottom and run past the dock where you fought the Terror of the Deep. Here you’ll find some new bouncy friends and an oddly satisfying frog-centric quest.
6
A Speedy Way To The Gongaga Reactor
- Location: Gongaga region, near the Mako Wastes cache
As fun as the name Gongaga is to say, navigating the region itself can be decidedly less so. Luckily, your chocobo is a lot more agile this time around, but you still have to find certain spots that allow for such movement. The thing is, there are more than you likely realized, including this one that could cut down on some travel time.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is split across fourteen chapters, but which one is the best?
Head to the Mako Wastes cache location and mosey on south through the opening you see when you fast travel there. Make sure your chocobo is with you, as you’ll quickly see some tracks leading to a hefty branch just waiting for you to slide on it, Sonic-style. Use it and you’ll find yourself dropped off right outside the Gongaga Reactor, potentially saving a bit of time that might have been spent trying to negotiate your way through on foot.

Izo’s Hidden Fishing Hole Cache
- Location: Gongaga region, south of Izo’s Shed
Gongaga’s eccentric weaponsmith Izo seems to spend half his time creating and the other half yelling loud enough to frighten nearby villagers. But it looks like he also has some hidden depths, including a secret fishing area all for himself. Fortunately, while you can’t fish, you can instead plunder the goods scattered around there. Hey, he clearly wasn’t using them.
Go south from Izo’s Shed and you can’t miss the Fishing Hole Cache. But make sure you bring a chocobo, as it’ll make the verticality of the spot easier to navigate in search of that last chest.
4
The Celestica
- Location: Cosmo Canyon region, southeast of Cosmo Chocobo Ranch, accessible via the Gliding Range No. 18 ramp
Speaking of caches and verticality, here’s one that will possibly make you feel like a genius for figuring it out. In the Cosmo Canyon region, you might have spotted a conspicuous looking wreck on a cliff during your third or fortieth attempt to get the best score on the chocobo gliding minigame. But its location is a bit of a trick, as attempting from that direction will just have you slamming into a wall like it’s a long lost Looney Tunes game.
Assuming you have access to the chocobos in this region, you have to come at it from the Gliding Range No. 18 ramp, then float across the boosters you see between you and the wreck. Finally, you’ll find yourself at the Celestica, which is little more than another cache, but come on, it’s the journey that counts.
3
The Cosmo Canyon Port
- Location: Cosmo Canyon region, through a cave east of Lifespring Survey Station No. 1
Just like in the Grasslands, you’ll likely find yourself finishing off the Cosmo Canyon region without feeling the need to dock there again when you get the Tiny Bronco. Aside from the fact that you can just fast travel there, this port is also surprisingly well-hidden.

Travel to Lifespring Survey Station No. 1 and turn right. Head east through the cave and you’ll once again find a cozy little dock tucked away. No materia this time, unfortunately. Yuffie is displeased.
2
The Nibel Airstrip Chocobo Stop
- Location: Nibel region, the northwest end of the Nibel Airstrip
If you’re on a quest to pet every baby chocobo like the true gamer you are, here’s one that might have eluded you. Normally, the little chicks will run up to you out of seemingly nowhere and guide you a surprisingly long distance to their chocobo stop. But this one must be shy.
When you arrive in the Nibel region, don’t head out into the wilderness just yet. Instead, just start running to the other end of the airstrip you landed on. You’ll find the stop way back there, complete with a little friend who waits until the last second to finally greet you. Frankly, it’s very relatable as far as social situations go.
1
Hojo’s Combat Simulator
- Location: Nibel region, Shinra Manor
At the beginning of Chapter 12, you can take on the side quest The Lament of the Damned. This will bring you back to Shinra Manor, where you can take on a series of combat challenges egged on by a hologram of Hojo that’s roughly as uncomfortable to be around as the real thing.
But the real meat comes after the quest, as it then allows you to complete more combat challenges of increasing difficulty. You definitely want to do this, as finishing them opens up a secret chamber which allows you to collect the Plumose Rod for Aerith. This gives her the Ray of Judgment ability and also just looks really pretty. Good fashion is a reward in and of itself.
