Palworld: 9 Worst Active Skills
Not all active skills are built equally in Palworld, and this list covers some of the worst examples that shouldn’t be a part of any Pal’s arsenal.
Distinguishing the differences between powerful Pals and those that can last longer in battle is extremely important when building up a team of five. While certain powerful allies can land a devastating blow that will leave the enemy stunned, others may have higher defensive stats that can absorb the impact of counterattacks, before sending out their own arsenal of moves. A good combination of both will reward players with an easier time taking down some of the most powerful Alpha Bosses. Here are the best Pals for combat in Palworld.
Updated on January 28, 2025, by Nathan Round: Since the debut of the Feybreak update, additional Pals have made their way into Palworld. This list has been updated to include additional powerful Pals: Xenolord and Bastigor. With these new Pals entering the fray, the rankings of many existing Pals have been adjusted to account for the addition of stronger competition. Along with these updates, readers will also find more relevant links to other Palworld lists and guides.

First up is Bellanoir Libero, the very first Dungeon Boss to appear in Palworld post-launch. This powerful Dark Pal boasts a solid health value of 120, along with mid-range melee damage at around 100 points. Though these stats aren’t the most impressive among all Palworld Pals, Bellanoir Libero has a base Base Attack level of 150 points. Since all of Bellanoir Libero’s attacks are purely Shot attacks, she will only be utilizing her Base Attack in combat, making this high-level Pal a rather neat asset when going against some tough Neutral Pals.
In terms of attacks, Bellanoir Libero has some heavy hitters, such as her Partner Skill: Nightmare Stare, which unleashes a devastating laser attack that can continuously damage a targeted opponent. Bellanoir Libero also features powerful AoE attacks like Apocalypse, along with Flame Waltz, which deals lasting burn damage. One of her most powerful and high-level attacks, however, is Nightmare Bloom, which boasts an impressive 160 Power. Bellanoir Libero also possesses the Siren of the Void Passive, which grants a 30% buff to Ice and Dark damage, giving players the flexibility to teach her some powerful Ice skills if they choose. All of these make Bellanoir Libero a heavy-hitting Dark Pal, capable of quickly dispatching Pals and taking down crowds of enemies.

Anubis
is without a doubt one of the most popular Pals in Palworld thanks to his level 4 in Handiwork. However, Anubis is also a heavy-hitting Ground Pal and is a perfect addition for players looking to take down high-ranking Electric Pals with ease. Anubis boasts a solid health stat, totaling 120 points, which is higher than most other Pals. But where Anubis truly shines in base stats is his high Melee and Base Attack levels, both at 130 points. Pair this with the fact that Anubis has both Shot and Melee learned skills, and players will find that this Pal does not pull his punches.
In terms of skills, Anubis boasts an impressive roster of exclusive abilities. Forceful Charge is a strong move, capable of dealing a solid amount of damage. Ground Smash is also notable, allowing Anubis to damage multiple targets. However, Rock Lance stands out as his best attack, boasting 150 Power and inflicting Muddy on enemies, which reduces their Electrical damage. To enhance the party’s damage output even further, Anubis’ Partner Skill, Guardian of the Desert, makes player attacks deal Earth damage, making Anubis a must-have for those looking to take down Axel and Orserk.

As a pure Dragon-type, Jetragon
may be one of the most sought-after Pals in the entire game. In terms of health and defense, Jetragon is not necessarily the most impressive Pal. However, where they truly shine is their attack power, which totals around 140 attack points, considering pretty much all of Jetragon’s attacks are Shot-based. Jetragon is also the fastest mount in Palworld by a large margin, making them an excellent Pal for getting around the world in a flash.
In terms of Active Skills, Jetragon has a nice roster, with the most devastating being Beam Comet, which sends Jetragon hurling into an enemy while firing off beams of energy. Despite its single-type Dragon form, Jetragon gains access to Fire-type moves such as Flare Storm and Fire Ball, giving this powerful beast some versatility. On top of these powerful moves, Jetragon also comes with the Aerial Missile Partner Skill, which allows players to fire a rocket on occasion—granted they have access to Jetragon’s Missile Launcher
.

Following Jetragon is Xenolord, another Dragon Pal that also doubles as a Dark Pal. Xenolord isn’t exactly the hardest-hitting Pal in the game, boasting a base attack level of 120 and primarily specializing in Shot-based attacks. However, it’s quite a tanky Pal, with 130 base health and a base defense level of 120. Xenolord also serves as a flying mount, and while it doesn’t surpass Jetragon in speed, max condensing the Pal brings its overall speed pretty close, and its stamina is nearly three times that of Jetragon.
In terms of attacks, Xenolord offers some impressive Shot abilities, several of which are highly effective. Omega Laser is a standout ability, boasting an incredible 200 power and capable of damaging multiple Pals in all directions. Cosmic Meteor and Astral Ray are also powerful, each inflicting Burn on opponents. To further enhance Xenolord’s utility, players who acquire its saddle can mount it and use their own weaponry, allowing them to wield the strongest tools in their arsenal while taking full advantage of Xenolord’s impressive flight capabilities.

Next up is Bastigor, a Pal introduced alongside the roster of Feybreak Pals. Bastigor is an Ice Pal at heart and can only be obtained by breeding a Frostallion with an Anubis. This means players have a chance to acquire a Legendary Bastigor, offering relatively high attack and defense stats. However, where Bastigor truly shines is its naturally high health, reaching 140 points at its base level.
In terms of attacks, Bastigor features some notable heavy hitters, including Ice-based moves like Glacial Impact and Diamond Rain, with 190 and 160 power respectively. Bastigor also wields powerful Earth attacks, such as Stone Beat, a melee move that deals heavy damage and inflicts the Muddy status effect. That’s not all, though—players can also directly control Bastigor by mounting him and using his hammer to deal significant damage. However, players will need to craft Bastigor’s Hammer to take full advantage of this feature.

Some say a good offense is a good defense, and if that’s the case, Paladius
is a top-tier Pal for combat. Paladius is one of the most formidable allies to obtain in Palworld, as it excels in virtually everything a player needs. Boasting an impressive 130 Health, a high level of attack, and the highest Defense stat at 145, Paladius is both versatile and powerful. It’s also worth noting that Paladius is a fast mount, equipped with a triple jump ability for excellent mobility.
In addition to its impressive stats, Paladius comes with some devastating Active Skills. Spear Thrust and Pal Blast, for instance, will be doing the majority of the damage. However, Paladius can also use naturally learned Ice moves, like Iceberg and Blizzard Strike, making it a decent threat to Dragon Pals. For players facing long boss fights, Paladius is an excellent option, though it might be wise to pull them back when encountering high-ranking Dark Pals.

Fire Pals are definitely among the most popular in Palworld, largely due to the fact that they are generally some of the strongest Pals in the game. However, when pitted against a good Water-type, they can be dealt with rather quickly. Enter Jormuntide
, the highest-ranking Water-type Pal for battle. Health-wise, Jormuntide is one of the beefiest Pals, boasting a base of 130 health points. Considering all of Jormuntide’s attacks are also Shot-based, this Pal boasts a base attack level of 120, making it a formidable threat to Fire-types, especially.
Jormuntide has a favorable dual typing in Water and Dragon, giving it access to some of the strongest moves in the game. Not only does Jormuntide learn its own type-specific moves like Hydro Laser and Dragon Meteor — two elite moves with 150 base power — but it also has natural access to Tri-Lightning, an Electric-type move with 90 power. Of course, though Tri-Lightning is a neat move, players may want to opt for another Dragon-based or Water-based attack like Aqua Burst or Draconic Breath. With a Jormuntide Saddle
, Jormuntide can also be mounted to surf the waters, using its Partner Skill to prevent stamina depletion as long as players are moving over water.

The Legendary Frostallion
is one of the fastest mounts in Palworld, but it shouldn’t be surprising that this Pal is also a top-notch fighter. Much like Jormuntide before it, Frostallion boasts an impressive HP level, totaling 140 health points at its base value. Frostallion also features a solid 140 base attack value, along with 100 points in Melee Attack. This makes Frostallion a heavy-hitting Ice Pal, one that’s particularly deadly against even the strongest Dragon Pals.
Frostallion has the best stat spread in all of Palworld and serves as both a top-tier flying mount and a dependable base worker. In addition to its impressive speed, Frostallion boasts 120 defense points, making it one of the brawniest Pals in the game. It also comes equipped with some powerful Active Skills, most of which are heavy hitters. These range from powerful Ice-based attacks like Blizzard Strike and Cryst Breath to exclusive melee attacks like Crystal Wing. To further enhance its power, Frostallion also has the Partner Skill Ice Steed, which imbues all player attacks with Ice damage and boosts Ice attacks while mounted. Of course, players will need a Frostallion Saddle
to make use of this valuable trait.

, one of the heaviest hitters among all the Fire Pals. Blazamut doesn’t necessarily have the best health stats, but it does boast an impressive Defense level of 120, providing significant damage reduction from incoming attacks. Where Blazamut truly shines is in its raw power, with 125 points in Base Attack. Although most of Blazamut’s skills consist mainly of Shot attacks, it also has a valuable Melee bonus of 150 points, making it a useful addition on the battlefield.

Next up is Jormuntide Ignis
, a popular Pal to have around the base thanks to its high level of Kindling. However, despite being a good base Pal, Jormuntide Ignis is also an excellent fighter, ranking among the best Dragon Pals in Palworld. Out of all the Pals on this list, Jormuntide Ignis is definitely one of the tankiest, boasting an impressive 130 base health points. Jormuntide Ignis is also a heavy hitter, with an overall ATK of 130, and nearly all of its Active Skills are heavy-hitting shot attacks.
As a Dragon and Fire type, Jormuntide Ignis has access to powerful Active Skills like Fire Ball and Dragon Meteor, each dishing out immense damage that can deal with most Pals. Like its water counterpart, Jormuntide Ignis also naturally learns Tri-Lightning, offering a neat Electric-based attack if players want to use it. However, swapping it out for another one of Jormuntide Ignis’ Fire attacks is arguably better. Like Jormuntide, Jormuntide Ignis also comes with a Partner Skill, Stormbringer Lava Dragon. Of course, players will need a Jormuntide Ignis Saddle
to use it, but once equipped, all Fire-based attacks will be enhanced, further boosting the damage potential players can dish out to opponents.

Blazamut Ryu also has higher attack power, reaching 130 in Base Attack compared to Blazamut’s 125.
