If you’re after a roguelike that’s a little less intense than the likes of Hades 2, cozy cooking-themed dungeon crawler Cuisineer is a delightful option. It combines isometric ARPG dungeon crawling with a restaurant management side reminiscent of Overcooked. Having already seen success on Steam, the indie game has now made its way to consoles – and alongside that launch, the PC version is getting a generous helping of new features including more weapons, events, and quality-of-life upgrades.
Cuisineer puts you in charge of budding adventurer Pop, who rushes back to her hometown of Paell in an attempt to save her parents’ restaurant from the brink of collapse. What follows is an endeavor to come up with the freshest, tastiest dishes around – and that means heading out on roguelike-style runs to snag materials and ingredients, then bringing them back home to turn them into more than 100 different recipes. It’s a charming blend of genres and a perfect treat for anyone who’s been enamored with the 2024 anime adaptation of Delicious in Dungeon.
Out now, the Fresh Features update does exactly what the name suggests. At the top of the list are two new weapon types, the Salt ‘n’ Pepper Shakers and the Konpeito Fists. You can now bring meals along with you to eat on your adventures. Each dish is capable of bestowing a temporary buff, a welcome addition for anyone anticipating the Monster Hunter Wilds release date. You can also change Pom’s look – there’s now a wardrobe in your house to switch between outfits, and you can pick up a range of new clothing and headwear from Pastel when she visits town.
New seasonal events will see the town decorated at certain points across the calendar, and you’ll be able to pick up themed furniture at Alder’s shop to ensure your restaurant looks the part, too. You can even make use of the new wardrobe feature to dress up to match. Then, pop down a gramophone to play music of your choice in each individual room – you’ll be able to unlock more options as you explore and bring down bosses.
