Seven games are being shut down by EA today. EA keeps a running list of games it’s shutting down, with fans usually clued in at least a few months in advance of any given closure. Since EA publishes many live-service games, annual sports titles whose licenses expire, and a bunch of mobile titles, new shutdowns are announced by the company on a near-monthly basis.
Not even a full month into 2025 and EA has already shut down two games. The first EA casualty of the new year came on January 16 when the company shut down Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, greatly limiting one’s golf game options on modern platforms. Then, on January 24, EA shut down The Simpsons: Tapped Out. A once hugely popular mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out shut down was devastating for the game’s community, prompting fans to write petitions asking EA to keep the game online. Those petitions went unanswered and The Simpsons: Tapped Out was officially shut down as scheduled.
