Atomic Heart features an incredible range of complex sci-fi concepts, which has naturally attracted a variety of science influencers. One such influencer, the YouTuber Kyle Hill, will be getting a cameo role in Atomic Heart DLC 3.

Enchantment Under the Sea, Atomic Heart‘s latest round of additional content, will see players traveling to the Neptune Complex—an undersea laboratory that’s already been referenced in the base game, with many players viewing the location as a nod to BioShock‘s city of Rapture. The area is being expanded beyond a reference in Enchantment Under the Sea, and Game Rant was able to sit down with game director Robert Bagratuni to learn more about the new expansion.

Independent developer Mundfish is releasing a new expansion for Atomic Heart, titled “Enchantment Under the Sea,” in January 2025.

Science YouTuber Kyle Hill’s Cameo In Atomic Heart DLC 3 Explained

Bagratuni detailed much about the contents of Atomic Heart‘s DLC 3, but fans of the science around the game may be familiar with YouTuber Kyle Hill. He is a major science YouTuber with over 2.5 million subscribers on the platform. Fittingly for Atomic Heart, much of Hill’s content is focused on the science of nuclear energy, dispelling myths about the process and breaking down advancements in the field.

According to Bagratuni, Hill’s inclusion in the game is not just down to this coincidence in subject matter. Hill made a sizable video covering the science of Atomic Heart, in addition to multiple videos playing through the title on his gaming channel. Seeing this, Mundfish reached out to Hill to work with him.

“This time we decided to involve the famous sci-pop influencer Kyle Hill, who gave his appearance and voice to one of the new characters of the DLC—Nikolai. Kyle Hill is an absolutely wonderful person, working with whom was a complete pleasure. But most importantly, his scientific content is incredibly interesting and useful. Previously, Kyle liked our game, and he even released on his YouTube channel a very interesting video on the topic of scientific advancements in the world of the Atomic Heart, including the “Cold Fusion” one.

Eventually, we had a dialogue, after which we had an irresistible desire to work with him in one form or another. And during the development of the DLC #3, we realized that he was a perfect fit for the new character Nikolai, who is a talented roboticist from the Academy of Sciences.”

The Character Of Nikolai

This Nikolai character is another new character coming in Atomic Heart‘s third DLC and, according to Bagratuni, his character has a great deal of synergy with Hill. Not only does Hill voice the character, but Nikolai derives his likeness from the science YouTuber and shares a similar energy.

“He, like Kyle, is also really energetic, so Kyle quickly responded to our proposal, as we all immediately realized that we had an incredible match. Having given his appearance to the character, he also did a great job on the voice acting of Nikolai. We are glad that we managed to collaborate with such a talented creator, who really allows you to learn a lot of new and useful things with his content.”

Fans of Atomic Heart and Kyle Hill will no doubt want to keep an eye on Nikolai when they dive into the DLC.
