The Case For and Against Reviving a Big Easter Egg

With Grand Theft Auto 6 finally closing in on its release, it’s worth wondering if one of the series’ best extra features will make a comeback. Of course, since fans still only have one trailer to go off of, there’s no telling what direction the game will ultimately go. At best, the tone of the trailer combined with past games can provide a vague idea. It also wouldn’t be a surprise for Grand Theft Auto 6 to feature several easter eggs similar to past games, and there is one easter egg in particular that may be worth seeing again.

The existence of easter eggs in Grand Theft Auto games is a proud series tradition at this point. The series’ titles are full of hidden bonuses that are just waiting to be found by players. These range from odd little sights to references to past games. However, one common trait among easter eggs is that more often than not, they’re amusing rewards for more observant players. Finding the hidden references and oddities in a Grand Theft Auto title is practically a game in its own right. It would be little surprise to see Grand Theft Auto 6 packed with easter eggs as well.

While it’s expected to bring its own new cast of characters, Grand Theft Auto 6 would also benefit from featuring certain tasteful callbacks.

The Jetpack Could Make For a Fun Easter Egg in GTA 6

GTA: San Andreas’ Jetpack is a Memorable Vehicle

One of the series’ most unique vehicles is the Jetpack from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which has a spiritual successor in the form of the Thruster from GTA 5. The Jetpack is more or less exactly what one would expect. It’s a tiny vehicle that lets players take flight and soar around the city at their leisure. Naturally, the Jetpack’s excellent mobility is counteracted by the fact that it offers virtually no protection to the user, although the Thruster did have its own weapons that players could use while mounted. Despite how fun the Jetpack is, the concept has only been explored twice.

The Jetpack Would be Fun to See Again in GTA 6

The argument to bring back the Jetpack Easter egg for GTA 6‘s new protagonists to find is clear. The Jetpack is simply a cool concept that brings something memorable to the series. It’s far more usable that most flying vehicles due to its small size, and wielding it to fly through the streets of a modernized Vice City would be a lot of fun. Not to mention, it could make fights more exciting by letting players unleash attacks on their foes from above if such maneuvers are possible. The Jetpack has a world of potential for adding over-the-top fun to Grand Theft Auto 6.

Realism in GTA 6 Could Make a Jetpack Out of Place

Possibly the biggest argument against bringing back the jetpack would be the possibility of GTA 6 focusing on realism. While Grand Theft Auto has a lot of wacky moments, the games have also had plenty of grittiness as well, with GTA 4 being the height of the series’ grim realism. While the Jetpack is a lot of fun, it’s far from the most grounded thing in the series. Of course, a Grand Theft Auto without levity would be completely against the grain for the series. At the same time, if GTA 6 goes all in on realism, there may not be room for a Jetpack.

The Jetpack has a world of potential for adding over-the-top fun to Grand Theft Auto 6.

There are decent arguments about what should or shouldn’t be in Grand Theft Auto 6. However, there’s no doubt that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s Vice City would be a lot more exciting with a jetpack. It would be a fun Easter egg both for longtime fans as well as players who want a new way to get around in the game. There’s inevitably going to be many vehicles in Grand Theft Auto 6, some of which could get ridiculous like the later GTA Online additions, so the Jetpack could be an Easter egg worth pursuing since it can add a unique fun factor to the experience.
