Razer is known for its flashy electronics, but their partnership with Sanrio has been an especially alluring enterprise, particularly for fans of all things kawaii. Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll were the first characters to get a super cute line of Razer products, and now Kuromi has received her own special designs in the form of a gaming chair, a keyboard, a soundbar, and a gaming mouse.
Fans of the adorable goth bunny will be immediately drawn to the collection thanks to its characteristic black and purple color scheme, but even beyond aesthetics, Razer has put out something truly special. Adapting their wildly successful budget mouse, the DeathAdder Essential, gamers can play and chill with cool Kuromi without missing a beat during matches.

Buyers assembling a rig full of Razer gear should consider these the top gaming mice the manufacturer offers.
Box Contents
- Kuromi Death Adder Essential Wired Mouse
- Kuromi Goliathus Gaming Mouse Mat
The packaging for Kuromi’s gaming mouse bundle is pretty basic, thanks to the simplicity of being wired. This bundle costs $40 more than the standard DeathAdder Essential mouse, so it’s a seriously nice touch to add for the spacious Goliathus gaming mouse mat.
This soft mousepad is about twice as long as a standard mouse pad, and only an inch or so wider. If you have a small desk, you might not want to use it, but if you have space, it does add a stylish touch. Additionally, Razer’s gaming mousepads are known for being super soft and well-made, so the Goliathus is far from a dinky “freebie.”
The Kuromi Edition’s Style & Design
Inky black and soft lavender make up the basic color scheme of the Kuromi mouse, and it works well. For those who don’t like having bright and happy colors in your gaming space, Kuromi’s whole collection is a breath of fresh air.
Both the mouse and the mousepad feature gray line drawings, covering the black sections. This motif includes a few poses by Kuromi along with shapes such as diamonds, hearts, and skulls. In fact, a bulbous skull can be found on the back of the mouse, which is pretty cool and avoids making the pattern too repetitive, considering the full-color profile of Kuromi winking at you from the center of the mousepad.
That skull, along with the scroll wheel, shines brightly with RGB lighting. That lighting can be changed and customized using Razer’s app, but not by much. Being a budget gaming mouse, the lighting options are limited. That being said, instead of the white light on the standard DeathAdder Essential, Kuromi’s gets a bold pink light that perfectly complements the black and purple finish. You can have this light set to static or breathing, and adjust the brightness as you see fit.
At the end of the day, your hand will be covering the RGB light most of the time.
A nice feature for energy-conscious players is the ability to have the RGB lighting turn off when your display turns off.
The black, purple, and gray design of the rest of the mouse and mousepad offer enough eye candy for most fans. The sassy pose Kuromi holds in the center of the mousepad completes the look, which will fit right in with other Sanrio gaming accessories.

Hello Kitty and Razer have done it again, this time releasing a brand-new version of the Enki X gaming chair that’s perfectly pink and kawaii!
Performance & Ergonomics with the DeathAdder Essential
The DeathAdder Essential, given its affordable cost, brings plenty to the table. Its 6400 DPI is acceptable for work and gaming, though I would imagine esports stars won’t be using the mouse anytime soon.
The mouse is very lightweight, as is the cord, so it being wired isn’t too much of a sacrifice to make. This, combined with the decent DPI and a quality gaming mouse mat, helps make the DeathAdder Essential feel much more capable than it seems on paper.
The sensor is highly responsive, with the mouse able to glide around with accuracy and low latency. Likewise, the two side buttons are perfectly placed and provide instantaneous input. The scroll button is just as responsive, but it can be a little tough to push down at first, as it arrives somewhat stiff.
The biggest issue I encountered with the mouse is its size. The Kuromi DeathAdder is one of the largest gaming mice around, measuring 5-inches in length, close to 3-inches in width, and nearly 2-inches in height! The mouse truly looks comically large when you first open the box.
This large mouse offers a lot of space for you to rest your palms while moving around. The size is perfect for playing chill, cozy games or hyper-focusing on work for a while.
At the same time, as someone with average-sized hands that are used to the compact build of Logitech’s G305, I found the mouse to be very difficult to firmly grasp.
During intense game sessions, the mouse presented some difficulties for me. It became uncomfortable to use for competitive games such as Fortnite. Slower-paced titles, such as Civilization VI or Stardew Valley, were better suited to this Kuromi gaming mouse.
Overall Impression
Despite the ever-expanding market of stylish third-party gaming accessories, there are still precious few options for players who want anything from well-known brands that isn’t black or white.
Razer has done a phenomenal job with the design of the Kuromi DeathAdder Essential and the Goliathus mousepad. Despite the higher cost compared to getting just the standard DeathAdder, this unique gaming mouse has a few surprises that should make casual gamers and fans of Sanrio very happy.
No one can deny the cute and cool aesthetic of Kuromi, and this bundle captures that with flying colors. The gaming mouse itself is ready to tackle a variety of tasks, from gaming to working.
Despite the grip issues, which won’t necessarily affect every player, I recommend this stylish new version of the DeathAdder Essential to any gamers whose eyes have been caught by Hello Kitty’s goth bestie. Razer’s iconic lighting, attention to detail, and capable specs don’t hurt, either!
Alternative Options
Do you not like Kuromi? Hopefully, if you’re looking for alternatives, because there’s nothing quite like this gaming mouse. However, if you’re simply wanting something that combines cute colors and shadowy hues, there may be other options:
