Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, for better or worse, has doubled down on absurd cosmetics. From day one with its eye-covered Vault Edition weapons, Treyarch has added numerous unrealistic cosmetics to its in-game store for players to purchase. The developer has shown no signs of slowing down, either, with a skin based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator set to debut during Season 2, and the game already being full of transparent skins, glowing toy soldiers, medieval knights, and more. However, Zombies fans would undoubtedly be excited if one of these outlandish looks was a hint at something more.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has had multiple Zombies-inspired looks already. One turns Weaver into a Dark Aether survivor, another grants Dr. Grey Samantha’s PJs from her Origins design, and yet another transforms Carver into a massive parasite. Recently, a Grey appearance bundle was added that stands out from other Zombies-themed packs, as it pays homage to the very different world of Dead Ops Arcade. With Dead Ops and its three iterations being a cult classic among Call of Duty fans, those gamers can only hope that this bundle is keeping Dead Ops relevant so that a new version can be released soon.

Black Ops 6’s upcoming Tomb map has sparked debate within the CoD Zombies community, and the entire situation feels reminiscent of Liberty Falls.

Black Ops 6’s Dead Ops Arcade “Mama’s Back” Bundle Shows Love to the Mode’s History

For those unfamiliar with Dead Ops Arcade, it is essentially a different game hidden within a Call of Duty title. A top-down twin-stick shooter, Dead Ops sees players battling waves of the undead as well as the Cosmic Silverback boss, a gigantic undead gorilla from outer space. Within the mode, players will encounter unique power-ups like a deadly dash, a first-person perspective switch, and a machine gun-wielding chicken protector, while familiar power-ups like nukes are also included. Mini-games like races as well as exploration-heavy, open stages have been added in Dead Ops’ sequels, while the Cosmic Silverback has been replaced with the Cyber Silverback and Mamaback.

Dead Ops has a small-but-dedicated fan base, as it provides an entirely different form of gameplay from Treyarch’s traditional Zombies mode and is nothing like what one would expect from the Call of Duty series. Its challenging gameplay loop will appeal to fans of retro games, while its co-op nature ensures that veteran Dead Ops players can help newcomers slowly improve. With Dead Ops boasting its own personality and characters, as well as a distinct sense of humor, a bundle honoring it is understandable. Those who enjoy Dead Ops and are interested in the bundle can purchase it for 2400 COD Points, and it includes the following items:

  • Astro-Chick Grey Skin – this Operator skin for Dr. Grey replaces her head with a pixelized chicken wearing a space suit like the Cosmic Silverback’s
  • Mother Clucker ASG-89 – a Reactive weapon based on Dead Ops’ chickens that evolves with kills and turns eliminated enemies into pixels
  • Payback AK-74 – a Blueprint covered in Dead Ops-themed art
  • Propulsion Jet Gun – a blueprint for Liberty Falls’ Wonder Weapon that makes it look more polished and professionally made
  • Monkey Bit-Ness Monkey Bombs – a reskin for the Monkey Bomb that gives it an 8-bit aesthetic
  • Ladle Knife – a blueprint that literally transforms the combat knife into a ladle, the weapon wielded by the Mamabac
  • Weird Birds Emote
  • Dot Ops Reticle
  • Clap Clap Boom Calling Card
  • Immolation Liquidation Gobblegum x1

Black Ops 6’s Dead Ops Bundle May Be Setting the Stage For DOA 4

Given the “Mama’s Back” naming of this Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 bundle, perhaps this cosmetic pack is a teaser for the next version of Dead Ops Arcade. “Mama’s Back” could easily be a subtitle and would feel like a natural successor to Dead Ops Arcade 3: Rise of the Mamaback. While DOA has a very simple story, which sees the various Silverbacks seeking revenge on the soldiers that eliminated their family members, the mode emphasizes fun vibes above all else, so it would be easy enough to come up with a justification as to how the Mamaback has made a comeback.

Alternatively, this bundle and its name could just be a way to honor Dead Ops’ past and keep it in the public eye, with DOA 4 focusing on the Ray Gun-wielding Papaback seen at the end of the third version’s final cutscene.

Based on the release patterns for previous Dead Ops modes, which saw Dead Ops releasing with every other Black Ops game (DOA 2 in Black Ops 3 and DOA 3 in Cold War), the next Black Ops title would be a natural fit for the latest iteration of Dead Ops. Fortunately for fans of retro shooters, this would not be that far off, as Call of Duty 2025 is expected to be a Black Ops sequel. While there is no indication beyond the cliffhanger ending of DOA 3 and this bundle’s existence that more Dead Ops is on the way, it would certainly be great to see it return. Dead Ops lead David King and the rest of Treyarch struck gold with the mode, as though it may not be as well-known as the main round-based Zombies experience, it is one of the things that sets Treyarch apart from its fellow Call of Duty developers. When it returns, gamers new and old shouldn’t miss the chance to experience it, as this silly Black Ops 6 bundle is just a taste of what DOA has to offer.
