While nothing has been revealed quite yet, many players are hotly anticipating the next Animal Crossing title. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was an unprecedented success for the series, and the changes it made to the core formula were beloved by many. With the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, rumors and wish lists for that next chapter are filling the internet. And even though players will likely not know anything about the future of Animal Crossing for a little bit, there is one feature that Nintendo should really consider adopting.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons expanded upon the franchise’s multiplayer offerings in exciting new ways, but there is still so much the studio could do with the concept. Specifically, Nintendo should consider combining the game’s Museum with the Bulletin Board to create something truly special. Not only could it be used as a way for players to fill up their museums with a bunch of unique player-created art, but it could also lead to actual art competitions.

The Next Animal Crossing Could Take Its Multiplayer Aspect to New Heights

Introduced in patch 1.2.0, Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ Museum art gallery operates much like it does in other entries. Players purchase various artwork from Redd, and if it is real, they are able to donate it to the Museum for display. While that makes for fun collectibles to gather, that is not the only art that Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers players. In fact, they can actually make their own art via the game’s bulletin board, which has resulted in some magnificent drawings over the years.

The addition of the bulletin board art has been great to see, and hopefully, Nintendo has plans to further expand upon the concept in the next entry. Specifically, it should consider tying the feature more closely with Animal Crossing’s Museum. Players should be able to display some of their own artwork alongside the pieces they bought from Redd or be given an entire exhibit devoted solely to their creations. And if that was not enough, the feature could also lead to a brand-new multiplayer experience in the form of actual art competitions or purchasable player creations.

The Museum and Bulletin Board Art Could Lead to Something Brand-New for the Franchise

Animal Crossing players from around the world should be able to compete against each other to see who is the best artist among them. This could simply be a monthly or yearly event, where player’s museums open up a special wing with all sorts of player submitted art that they can then vote on. The winners could be awarded Bells or a special cosmetic item, and anyone who votes could also get a couple of rewards. Plus, the winners could be displayed among all the other art until the next competition.

Players could also just be given the ability to compete against their friends or purchase said friend’s artwork. They could have speed drawing contests, the Animal Crossing version of Pictionary, or simply have friends submit pieces to be voted on. If they do not want to compete, then there could be a vendor that sells the player-created artwork, or players could just be given the ability to gift each other their drawings for display in the Museum.

While Redd’s collection is fun to peruse, there is something special about the idea of filling these museums with things that other players have created. One of the core parts of Animal Crossing is the community, so taking bulletin board drawings to the next level may be a fantastic way to expand upon that aspect. Of course, there are many other features fans would love to see in the next Animal Crossing, but a deepining of the drawing feature would be an easy win for the studio.
