Marvel Has Big Plans For Ghost Rider

Marvel Studios is constantly looking to inject new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe to keep things fresh and interesting. Adding different characters also opens up the opportunity for different storylines to take place in the MCU due to the personalities, powers, and worlds in which they inhabit.

A lot of focus right now is on the upcoming debut of the Fantastic Four in the MCU, which will take place later this year. It is also widely expected that the X-Men will arrive in the MCU soon after Wolverine’s introduction. However, Marvel Studios isn’t going to stop there; other iconic characters are expected to appear soon.

The MCU’s widely anticipated X-Men movie is expected to have strong leadership behind the scenes.

According to industry insider Apocalyptic Horseman, Marvel is working on ideas for Ghost Rider. This isn’t to introduce him with a solo project or in Midnight Sons, but the idea is for him to be introduced in Avengers: Doomsday, where it was added that he will have a big role. Daniel Richtman added to this report by confirming that nobody has been cast as Ghost Rider at this stage, but he is set to appear in a few projects over the next three years, one of which will be Midnight Sons.

It has previously been reported that Nicolas Cage is set to reprise his role as Ghost Rider in an upcoming MCU project, but it’s unclear if that will be Avengers: Doomsday. However, given the multiverse aspect of that upcoming film, there could be an easy way to explain Cage’s version of Ghost Rider returning in some capacity. But it’s unknown if Marvel intends on Cage being the long-term actor for this role, or if he will be returning at all.

Whether Cage reprises the role he’s previously played twice or someone else takes on the iconic role, all the signs are pointing toward Marvel Studios having plans for Ghost Rider to be involved in the MCU soon. It’s something that Marvel fans have wanted to see for a long time due to the character’s popularity and the fact he brings something completely different compared to others. The fact that Marvel has been pushing more adult-orientated projects recently, with Deadpool & Wolverine and the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again television series, could now be the right time to bring in Ghost Rider. While he could easily work in a more family-orientated setting, the character does lend itself nicely to a more aggressive, violent, and serious project.

Bringing Ghost Rider into the MCU right now is something that people will be excited about because audiences always enjoy having new characters. Marvel Studios is preparing to enter a new phase that will feature a lot of fresh people, from mutants to the Fantastic Four, and that’s why this is an ideal time to add Ghost Rider into the mix, as Marvel can focus on building toward the future with plenty of hype and excitement. The uniqueness of Ghost Rider would instantly catch people’s attention, and the possibility of Marvel adding him as soon as Avengers: Doomsday is thrilling.
