Cookie Run: Kingdom has been celebrating its 4th anniversary with many content and rewards lined up for players. The much-anticipated Version 6.0 update, “Spire of Shadows“, released a highly anticipated and fan-favorite character, Shadow Milk Cookie, along with releasing an abundance of limited-time events, challenges, and exciting in-game content.
As part of the celebration, Devsisters launched the “Shadow Milk Cookie Special Package,” which included exclusive goodies such as an invitation set, a coupon code for in-game rewards, a keychain, an album OST QR code, etc. The highlight of the set that got many fans in a frenzy is the Cookie Run: Kingdom Shadow Milk Cookie plushie, yet the reception afterward has brought criticism.
Shadow Milk Cookie Plushie went completely out-of-stock in both first and second Pre-orders
The first pre-order for the package was an instant success, selling out within minutes of its release. In response to the overwhelming demand, Devsisters announced a second pre-order period. The second pre-order, open from January 27th, 11:30 AM to February 23rd (GMT+9), offered fans another opportunity to secure the packages.
Despite the extended pre-order window, fans were once again disappointed as the packages sold out almost immediately. The rapid sell-out led to an outpour of frustration from the CookieRun: Kingdom community. User “Wyssleee” made a post in the r/CookieRunKingdoms sub-Reddit, expressing their disappointment on not being able to pre-order the plush, stating that they almost broke down crying.
The comments on the post express similar outrage and frustration and many called out their poor management. Many fans have also expressed their discontent on various social media sites. They have gone on to criticize the limited stock availability and high shipping costs which proved to be sometimes higher than the plushie’s price.
Some fans shared their disappointment and confusion over the mismanagement of the pre-order process. In the official Cookie Run: Kingdom store, many fans posted negative reviews on the product page, garnering over 222 reviews in just a day.
As of now, Devsisters has not released an official statement addressing the controversy, leaving many fans hoping for improved availability or an apology in the future. The high demand for the plushie highlighted the enduring popularity of Shadow Milk Cookie, but it also raised questions about the handling of merchandise sales by Devsisters.
