When you’re not busy protecting your kingdom from the Darkwings in Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter, there are plenty of other beasts to track down and defeat. Beast Hunts offer a quick distraction from your main quest, allowing you to assist your allied factions against the monsters wreaking havoc across the ratdom.

Tails of Iron 2 is better than its predecessor in many respects, but a lot of its new ideas unfortunately fall flat.
One of these early Beast Hunts tasks Arlo with a mission to hunt down a Mudwyrm that has set its sights on the farmers’ livestock at Mossbug Farm in The Outskirts. Prepare for a multiphase hunt where you’ll track, chase, and eliminate the beast causing problems for your subjects.
How To Start The Mudwyrm Beast Hunt
Speak to The Elder at Mossbug Farm in The Outskirts and select the Flocked Off boss to begin this quest. The shepherd has been having problems with some missing flock, and they need you to investigate.
Head to the right of the Winter’s Edge entrance and you’ll witness a Mudwyrm emerging from the ground to consume a sheep.
Follow the path down and to the right, breaking the wooden blockage with your Two-Handed Weapon to enter The Mines Of Highrock.
As you enter, Arlo will pick up the trail of the beast you saw: a Mudwyrm Poison, which is weak to Ice and Fire. Prepare your gear for the battle ahead.
Use the ladder on the right wall to descend safely and finish building the Mines Of Highrock fast travel sign using two Wood Logs, two Stones, and six Gold.
Speak to the merchant on the left if you want to buy Ice and Fire Traps, then follow the path to the left and down another ladder, vaulting off it midway down to land on a level where two barrels are glowing.
How To Beat Mudwyrm Poison Phase One
Step forward, and you’ll find sheep bug corpses along with your target: the Mudwyrm Poison.
Unleash Fire Elementa to open the battle, then Ice to freeze your foe and leave it open to more attacks.
Avoid the Mudwyrm’s poison projectiles, which cause damage and stun Arlo briefly.
When you reduce its HP by half, the Mudwyrm retreats underground; you’ll need to follow it.
Follow the wounded Mudwyrm to the lower portion of the mine using the ladder, but this time, follow the ladder down to the bottom.
How To Beat Mudwyrm Poison Phase Two
Head left and jump across to reach another ladder to the bottom where you’ll encounter the Mudwyrm Poison for phase two of the fight.
Dodge its opening attack and counter quickly while the Mudwyrm’s head is stuck in the ground.
Avoid the tail smash attack and focus on counterattacking until the Mudwyrm is defeated.
What Rewards Do You Get From Flocked Off?
Once the fight has concluded, interact with the cowgrub to send it back home, and you’ll receive the following gear as a reward:
- Rough TH Wyrm Hammer
- Rough Wyrm Helmet
- Rough Wyrm Armour
With your reward in hand, this will complete the Flocked Off Beast Hunt side quest.
