E-Day could be targeting 2025. If it hits that ambitious goal, Xbox could finally be back at the top.
Speaking of reuniting the old guard, it seems developer The Coalition will be reunited with People Can Fly, which was the co-development partner on Gears of War 1, 2, and 3, and was the lead on Gears of War: Judgment.
Talk About Forming A Coalition
People Can Fly CEO, Sebastian Wojciechowski made a statement about the partnership on the developer’s blog. “Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love,” he said. “We are deeply grateful for our partners’ trust and support on this journey.”
“Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic,” added The Coalition studio head, Mike Crump. “We’re pleased to be partnering with the talented folks at People Can Fly who have been a part of our franchise’s legacy for so long.”
The exact nature of the partnership hasn’t been discussed, but it will be interesting to see what the two studios can cook up, especially after the success of the first three games. Hopefully, the two will be able to capture the same magic.
While all eyes are currently on Gears of War: E-Day, The Coalition hasn’t forgotten about Gears 6. “We’re super proud about Gears 4 and Gears 5 and the stories that were told,” said brand director Nicole Fawcette in an Xbox Wire post in June last year. “We’re not retreating from that storyline in any way. But in [this] moment, we had an opportunity to write our next step, and this one just felt too good to miss.”
