James Gunn’s DC Universe is set to take viewers on an enthralling as the franchise’s first movie, Superman, is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2025. Wonder Woman Game Gets Disappointing Update
Industry insider delivers the latest word on the forthcoming Wonder Woman game, giving fans eagerly waiting for the DC game some upsetting news.
Taking it to Twitter, a user named Nightmare 1396 (@TMatt88220) envisioned what González might look like as the DCU’s Wonder Woman, standing alongside Corenswet’s Superman. The user took advantage of the photo shoot the actors did for Hugo Boss, giving it a remarkable spin. In the photos, the Superman star can be seen wearing the legendary blue and red costume, while posing candidly for the camera. On the other hand, the 34-year-old actress is wearing the Wonder Woman costume while wrapping her hand on Corenswet’s shoulder. Interestingly, González is wearing a classic swimsuit-like Wonder Woman costume that has been used numerous numbers of times in comics. Recently, in an episode of Creature Commandos, viewers got to see a brief look at the character in the form of a vision shown by Circe, where Diana Prince was seen wearing a similar costume to the one imagined for González. That means DCU might introduce a live-action version of the Princess of Themyscira in the same dress.
It would be interesting to see if Gunn believes that González could be a perfect person to portray Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. The actress was pretty close to landing a role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and portraying Catwoman. She even went as far as camera testing, but unfortunately, lost the role to Zoe Kravitz. Although she was deeply saddened by losing the role of Catwoman, the actress believes that playing a character like Wonder Woman might not be a possibility for her. While speaking in an interview with Comicbook.com, the actress noted that she would love to be part of a superhero project and would definitely say yes to playing someone like Wonder Woman in a film. However, she made it clear that she would be fine watching someone else portraying the character.
With the dawn of the new DC Universe, Wonder Woman is set to be recast, marking the end of Gal Gadot’s iconic portrayal of the character, much like Henry Cavill’s departure as Superman. Amidst this transition, a growing fan campaign has been rallying behind González as a potential Wonder Woman. If this fan-driven push gains enough traction before official casting begins, it could open the door for González to join the DC Universe, giving her a shot at landing the role of the Amazonian warrior. The actress has already proved her mantle as an actor in projects such as Baby Driver, Ambulance, and 3 Body Problems, and it would be great to see her play a powerful character like Wonder Woman. But will it happen? Well, only Gunn knows about this.
