Baldur’s Gate 3 Cross-Play Goes Live In Patch 8 Stress Test

Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Patch 8 is available to select players now, as Larian rolls out a stress test for all of the new features. The biggest addition made in Patch 8 is cross-play, finally allowing players across different platforms to start campaigns together.

Some of those who expressed an interest in taking part in these tests will be granted access in waves, letting them team up with some friends across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It’s recommended that console players are the ones to host these games because if not, there are limitations on what mods PC players can use in multiplayer.

You can check out the full patch notes here, but we’ll give you a brief overview of what you’ll need to know if you want to try out the cross-play.

For starters, you will need an invite to the stress test. If you have one but the buddy you want to play with doesn’t, then you can request another one. Then, if the host is on PC, they will need to be playing with no more than 100 mods, and only using mods that are also available to console players. This is why it’s easier if the console player hosts, since any mod they’re using will also be available on PC, but not vice versa.

You’ll have to make sure you have cross-play enabled, but once you do, you should see a cross-play option in the multiplayer menu. From here, you can view other lobbies or create your own with your own specifications, such as what difficulty you’ll be playing on and how many slots you have.

Aside from this, you’ll also get other Patch 8 features. This includes photo mode, all of the new subclasses (one for each class) and various bug fixes.
