Monster Hunter Wilds Recommended GPU Specs May Be Lowered Before Release

Summary

  • Monster Hunter Wilds is a pretty beefy game, but Capcom is “looking into” potentially lowering the recommended GPU requirements before launch.
  • It’s also exploring the possibility of releasing a free benchmark tool to help players find out whether their rigs are good enough, though nothing has been confirmed just yet.

Monster Hunter Wilds will finally launch next month, much to the distress of several PCs across the globe. We know that it’s going to be a beast of a game – despite certain hiccups during the first open beta – demanding a beast of a machine to run it properly. Right now, the game’s Steam page recommends an Nvidia GTX 2070 Super or an RTX 4060.

Given that both of those will set you back hundreds of dollars alone, it seems as though Capcom could potentially end up pushing away a lot of the Monster Hunter faithful. Thankfully, Capcom appears to be in the process of trying to do something about the game’s graphical needs, as it claimed in a tweet from the Monster Hunters Wilds Twitter account that it’s “looking into” lowering the game’s recommended GPU specs.

It was the Monster Hunter Germany Twitter account specifically that revealed this info (thanks GamesRadar), as it revealed footage of Monster Hunter Wilds with improved performance. In this tweet, it’s explained that the developers have been working on issues that were noted during the first beta test, and that these improvements will be similar on the PC version.

Capcom’s blockbuster is already attracted hundreds of thousands of people. And that’s just the open beta…

To help with people potentially not having machines capable of running the game, it says Capcom is looking into whether it can lower the recommended GPU requirements, but doesn’t confirm whether it will happen or not. It also explains in a follow-up tweet that Capcom is also looking into releasing a free benchmark tool to help fans see whether their rigs are powerful enough, but no promises there either.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Capcom can successfully lower the recommended GPU requirements before launch next month, but hopefully it does, as it means more people will be able to play. It’s also worth noting that a second beta has been confirmed to be taking place next month, which will also be a good test to see if your PC is powerful enough. If not, you’d best pray and hope Capcom comes up with a solution.
