Summary
- Supports are key in Genshin Impact for enabling team comps and boosting weaker characters.
- Shenhe is a top Cryo support, best with weapons boosting ATK percent for her buff.
- Choose weapons wisely for Shenhe based on balancing ATK and Energy Recharge for optimal performance.
Supports often become the most highly sought-after characters in Genshin Impact. Where all hypercarries can confidently beat the strongest content, it’s the supports that can enable multiple team comps and heighten otherwise weaker characters to competitive levels.

These tips will help you get the most out of Neuvillette in Genshin Impact.
Where Kujou Sara
is the premier Electro support and Gorou
the perfect team member for Geo teams, Shenhe
is the exclusive support for Cryo (and, to a lesser extent, Physical) characters. She increases their damage and applies Cryo through her combination of talismans and icy fields, taking an otherwise underappreciated element to the levels of a powerhouse.

Halberd
Viable Three-Star Weapon

Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 40 – 448 |

Secondary Stat |

ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 5.1% – 23.4% |
If you’ve just started playing Genshin Impact, chances are you won’t have access to the best weapons. In such stages, most weapons are comparable enough that any can work. However, for Shenhe specifically, her buff scales off of her ATK, which means weapons that grant ATK percent are better than others for her.
Fortunately, one of the three-star polearms has that very stat, making the Halberd
a fine statstick until you find a more synergistic weapon for Shenhe.

Wavebreaker’s Fin
Grants ATK And Increases Burst Damage

||
Base Stat |
|||
Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 45 – 620 |
|||
Secondary Stat |
|||
ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 3% – 13.8% |
Shenhe gives one of the strongest buffs in Genshin Impact, letting characters achieve impossibly large damage numbers. Since this buff is based on her total ATK instead of just her base ATK (as is the case with Bennett), stacking up ATK percent substats, like what the Wavebreaker’s Fin
has, yields better returns on Shenhe than on other characters, making the secondary stat extremely useful.
Shenhe’s talismans give a specific number of buff triggers to every party member, including Shenhe herself. Since She won’t be on the field for long, not using Shenhe’s off-field Elemental Burst wastes a portion of her overall team buff.
While the passive isn’t exactly too important due Shenhe’s personal damage is almost negligible, the extra damage helps proc Shenhe’s passive on herself. Since she has no other way of triggering the talismans from off-field, this helps your team make full use of Shenhe’s teamwide buff.

CRIT Rate (Lv. 1 – 90) 4.8% – 22.1% |
The Primordial Jade Winged-Spear
is one of the best general-use spears for on-field DPS characters. Apart from just having a good CRIT stat, the weapon also has one of the highest Base ATK stats in the game. Despite CRIT not being very useful on Shenhe, the high Base ATK is enough of a reason to run her with it.

These polearm choices will help you get the most out of Zhongli.
The weapon can be more useful on her, though, as the weapon’s passive grants the user ATK percent each time they deal damage. Shenhe can make great use of it if she gets the chance to stack it up. However, in most cases, the ATK percent gain is not worth the time wasted, since you can be dealing damage quicker after switching to another character.

Skyward Spine
Good Base ATK And Decent Energy Recharge

|||
Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 48 – 674 |
|||
Secondary Stat |

Energy Recharge (Lv. 1 – 90) 8% – 36.8% |
The Skyward Spine
isn’t exactly a good weapon. It’s a standard weapon without any synergy with any Genshin Impact character, making it more of a statstick than something you’d want for the passive.
As a statstick, it’s a decent option for Shenhe, providing both a hefty amount of base ATK due to it being a five-star polearm, as well as a bit of Energy Recharge to get Shenhe Bursting more often. Still, the passive is completely useless, and once you get access to a better weapon, switching is recommended.

The Catch
Increases Elemental Burst DMG And Lets Shenhe Burst More often
Weapon Type |
Polearm |
||
---|---|---|---|

4 Star |
||
Base Stat |
|||
Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 42 – 510 |
|||
Secondary Stat |
|||
Energy Recharge (Lv. 1 – 90) 10% – 45.9% |
One of the best polearms in Genshin Impact is completely free to get, and it ends up being one of Shenhe’s best weapons as well. Gained from fishing and then trading it from the Inazuma harbor, The Catch
provides a decent Energy Recharge secondary stat and a moderate amount of ATK.
The Energy Recharge already makes it good for Shenhe, but the passive can greatly benefit her as well. Since Shenhe’s Elemental Burst is the only part of her kit that gets her own buff, a weapon that increases its damage by up to 32 percent and also gives a good amount of CRIT Rate becomes Shenhe’s best friend.

Engulfing Lightning
Weapon Type |
Polearm |
||
---|---|---|---|
Quality |
5 Star |
||
Base Stat |
|||
Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 46 – 608 |
|||
Secondary Stat |
|||
Energy Recharge (Lv. 1 – 90) 12% – 55.1% |
Building Shenhe always requires a sacrifice to be made. On one hand, you can stack tons of ATK on her and lose out on Energy Recharge, making her give bigger buffs from her Elemental Skill but losing out on her Elemental Burst at times. On the other, you can get more Energy Recharge on her, letting her Burst every rotation but giving a hit to her buffing capabilities.

Fortunately, there exists a weapon that solves this contradiction in building Shenhe. Raiden Shogun
‘s signature, the Engulfing Lightning
, gives the user a huge amount of ATK that scales off of their Energy Recharge. Build more ER, get more ATK, it doesn’t get much better than that for Shenhe.

Calamity Queller

Base Stats |

Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 49 – 741 |
|||
Secondary Stat |
|||
ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 3.6% – 16.5% |
A character’s signature weapon is what synergizes the most with their kit. Instead of functioning as an addition, the weapon feels more like an upgrade to the character’s skills itself, granting them the thing they need the most to be at their best. The Calamity Queller
does this quite decently for Shenhe, granting her the highest ATK of any other five-star in the game.
Calamity Queller does this by increasing Shenhe’s ATK each second after she uses her Elemental Skill. This ATK buff is increased once she leaves the field, something she would already be doing to let her party members make use of the buff. If you’re fishing for the best buffs, the Calamity Queller is Shenhe’s best weapon.
1
The Favonius Lance
Weapon Type |
Polearm |
||
---|---|---|---|
Quality |
4 Star |
||
Base Stats |
|||
Base ATK (Lv. 1 – 90) 44 – 565 |
|||
Second Stats |
|||
Energy Recharge (Lv. 1 – 90) 6.7% – 30.6% |
There are many great weapons in Genshin Impact, and while her signature, Calamity Queller, or other ATK-giving weapons may grant bigger buffs, the Favonius Lance
ends up being Shenhe’s best weapon.
This is because every weapon in the Favonius series grants Energy to other characters, letting them focus on stats other than Energy Recharge. This ends up being a bigger buff than stacking up a little more ATK on Shenhe herself, provided you can fully utilize this and get your main DPS geared up better.
