The slimy adventures of Beatrix LeBeau continue in Slime Rancher 2, but for more than two years, the protagonist had no idea who exactly called her over to Rainbow Island and for what purpose. It was not until December 2024’s massive Into the Labyrinth update that the players actually got to know more about the person responsible for giving the protagonist a new job.

Before Beatrix could finally enter the Grey Labyrinth, the only mode of communication that she had with her mysterious guide was through drones and other indirect means. But she soon finds out that there is an actual human being behind the whole operation who is in dire need of her help.
Who Summoned Beatrix To Rainbow Island?
At the beginning of Slime Rancher 2, Beatrix is seen relaxing on a beach when a mysterious boat arrives with a letter inside it, asking her to get on it and make her way to Rainbow Island.
But after quite some time spent on the island, upon entering the Grey Labyrinth, Beatrix finally has a direct conversation through a communication device with Gigi, who reveals that she is the person who approached her for this new adventure.
Gigi introduces herself as a botanist and an explorer, but she has been trying to learn more about alien technology to figure out what exactly has been going wrong and how she can use it to find a solution.
Gigi also reveals that she did not initially know if she could completely trust Beatrix, which is why she kept her identity hidden for so long, even after the protagonist had arrived at Rainbow Island.
It turns out that Gigi has been present on Rainbow Island for a very long time, devoid of any proper human interaction, making her excited to finally be able to have a normal conversation with Beatrix.
There are various moments where Gigi starts to reminisce about the past and how life used to be before she moved to Rainbow Island, looking back at her time with her parents and missing her mother’s garden and cooking.
However, she chose to create her own path and stopped trying to fit into her parents’ expectations, having real dreams of doing some actual good and heading back to them to show them that she succeeded.
Gigi also had a grandmother who passed away before she even had the chance to meet her, but she reveals that her mother was absolutely devastated by the tragic loss.

Gigi also shares that she was born on the Far, Far Range, but after moving to Rainbow Island, her memories started to get a bit fuzzy, making it quite difficult for her to document her life from before in a specific order mentally.
Why Did Gigi Summon Beatrix To Rainbow Island?
When Beatrix asks why she was summoned to Rainbow Island, Gigi explains that she needs her help to save both the island and even the whole of Far, Far Range as well.
Gigi reveals that something crashed into Rainbow Island from space and started to change its characteristics, ranging from the rocks to the atmosphere itself.

Labeled the Prismacore by Gigi, the substance from space starts to change the color of everything around it, but after that, it also affects the material and elements as well.
Gigi needs Beatrix to help her stop the Prismacore from expanding any further, and in her quest to find a solution, she built The Conservatory and ended up finding the Grey Labyrinth to get to the core.
Even before revealing her real identity, Gigi aids Beatrix by providing her with the necessary information and gadgets to ensure that the mission proves successful.
She also disguises herself as AI to ask Viktor Humphries to create the Radiant Projector so that Beatrix could use it to find her within the Grey Labyrinth.
Gigi later explains the sheer scale of the catastrophic situation that will take place if she and Beatrix are unable to come up with a potential solution as soon as possible, detailing that the Prismacore will destroy all life on the planet if left unchecked.
When Beatrix asks why she specifically asked for her help, Gigi confesses that she needed a real hero who is perfect for the job to save the planet, and she could not think of anyone better than Beatrix.
