With the LCK Cup 2025 underway, let’s see what might happen in the series between KT and T1. Who will emerge victorious in the telecom wars? Let’s find out in our preview.
T1 vs KT – LCK Cup 2025 Preview
The LCK 2025 season started off with an exciting week 1 featuring some upsets and also pleasant surprises. Both Gen.G and DK started out strong, taking two convincing wins despite the roster moves during the offseason, proving that they are ready to compete for the top spots in the league.
T1, on the other hand, showed some ups and downs in the series against DRX and DK, in a clear sign that the team still has to figure out their playstyle with the new top laner Doran.
The time to get up to speed is short, though, as any poor performance can lead to a loss. And with the implementation of the new Fearless Draft, surprises and upsets are more likely to happen within series.
In week 2, T1 will go up against KT in the traditional “Telecom Wars”. Regardless of the teams’ form, this series has always broken expectations, making it hard to predict the outcome. Nonetheless, we’ll try to break down the two team’s based on their week 1 performance.
Series Breakdown
Just like we said earlier, T1 hasn’t found the ideal way to play around Doran. Compared to Zeus, the new top laner has quite a different way of impacting the game and he’s probably not as strong of a carry as his predecessor. In contrast, Doran is known for bringing stability to the top lane.
This means that T1 will either have to mold Doran into a player who can play with resources or play around the mid-AD duo more. The latter should be the easier approach but it will require both Faker and Gumayusi to step up.
Oner and Keria will be the keys in the early game rotations and will have to make sure they can create openings for the team to take skirmishes. In week 1, there have been several messy fights, and with the implementation of the new Feats of Strength mechanic, we should expect more in week 2.
KT’s loss to HLE was more of a fumble coming from the draft rather than gameplay wise. In an attempt to deny picks to the enemy team, they found themselves with sub-optimal drafting.
The new Fearless draft mode can also open up for strategies like this, but I don’t think we have seen KT’s best form in the last series. Bdd is known for being a strong carry but he was put on Galio duty. Considering Deokdam will have more pressure coming into this series, KT’s key element might be Cuzz, who can sometimes pull performances out of nowhere.
Overall, the series should still see T1 favored but there are big chances that we’ll see the series go to three games, especially given that we might see some weird drafts being played. The predicted score should be a 2-1 for T1.
