Protoss sweep online, Elazer wins in Warsaw

Protoss’ hot run in weekly competition continued during the week of Jan 13-19, with herO winning an Olimoleague-PiGosaur double while MaxPax triumphed in WardiTV Mondays. The week also featured an old school local LAN competition, with Elazer coming out on top in Warsaw.

Jan 13: WardiTV Mondays #18

MaxPax and herO clashed in a cup finals for the fourth consecutive week, this time meeting at the summit of WardiTV Mondays. Despite having shown recently improvement in the PvMaxPax match-up, herO was comprehensively beaten this time around and gave up a 0-3 sweep (VOD).

Jan 13: PiGosaur Cup #15 (partial bracket shown)

Next up was the PiGosaur cup, where herO looked like he might be forced to settle for another second place finish after matching up with Clem in the grand finals. However, herO played one of his best PvT series in the past couple of months, overcoming the French Terran who had beaten him so often in recent competition (VOD).

Jan 14: OlimoLeague #236

The trio of weekly cups wrapped up with the Olimoleague, where herO picked up his second win of the week in Olimoleague. In the absence of the twin terrors from Europe, herO breezed to a 3-1 victory in the grand finals against Cure, only dropping a single map where he attempted a bizarre fast Blink-DT strategy (VOD).

Jan 18: H.4.0.S Galactic Battle Champions

Poland’s best players gathered at the H.4.0.S net cafe/bar in Warsaw to compete for a ~$2,400 prize. In a surprising twist, top national player Spirit was felled in the semifinals, with Gerald scoring the 3-2 upset in a series of late-game macro brawls. Unfortunately for Gerald, his silver sword couldn’t pierce Zerg hides in the grand finals, as Elazer overwhelmed him with swarms of Hydralisks to take a 4-2 victory (VOD).
