Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Pokedex Promo Is Available To Claim

If you’re anything like me, and my collector colleagues, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s eighth promo slot would have been driving you crazy. Up until now, every promo from 001/P-A to 033/P-A has been available for collection, with the exception of promo 008, leaving an annoying gap visible in your collection.

Thankfully, that’s all changed as of this morning’s update, as 008/P-A, Pokedex, is now available to claim for all players.

Players logging into Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket this morning would have received a message notification. Here, they’d have been greeted with the news that the Pokedex promo is available to claim.

The game’s developers released the promo in celebration of 40,000,000,000, that’s 40 billion (!!), cards being collected by players around the world.

The promo can be claimed from the gift tab within TCG Pocket, and will be available from January 20 to April 30 this year, so there’s plenty of time to grab the card.

While it fundamentally works the same as the other Pokedex card in the game, allowing players to look at the top three cards of their deck, promo 008/P-A is a huge visual upgrade on its predecessor. The original card displays a simple Pokedex against an orange background, whereas this newly released one shows the same Pokedex surrounded by four of Kanto’s most popular Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu. It’s a shame it’s a card that doesn’t get much play.

Alongside this new promo, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is entering an exciting period. A few days ago, the game’s developers confirmed that trading would finally be implemented, with a few caveats, in the next few days and that the title’s next expansion would be released by the end of the month. All coming after the dreaded five-match win streak event.
