The complication lies in the fact that this is the only way to see the Legendaries, and even then, their spawn rate is incredibly low. However, Redditor steamy-bao defied the odds and caught Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres with only Ultra Balls. They say the first critter they saw was Galarian Articuno, but they didn’t have a Master Ball. With low expectations, they used an Ultra Ball and a Golden Raspberry and were surprised to manage to capture Galarian Articuno. Months later it was their turn to catch Galarian Zapdos, and although they can’t say for sure, they think it was a critical catch. Galarian Moltres was the last, and this time the player possessed a Master Ball but avoided using it, completing the goal and adding the Dark/Flying-type to their collection.

It’s not the first time a Pokemon GO player caught a Galarian bird without the Master Ball. Despite this, the item is still the best guarantee for trainers to get Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, or any other rare and powerful Pokemon. The item has been available in the game’s history on five different occasions, most recently in October last year with the release of the Masterwork Research during the Galarian Expedition event.
While many players still dream of the day when they capture Galarian birds, the famous trio will soon be in the spotlight with the start of a new Pokemon GO event. From January 20 to February 3, Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be available for the first time in the game. The legendaries will appear in Max Battles, and players will have the chance to encounter them in shiny form.
