Marvel Rivals Players Want a Major Change Made to Magneto’s Ultimate Ability

Summary

  • Some players believe that Magneto’s ultimate ability, Meteor M, is underpowered in Marvel Rivals.
  • Meteor M can be overloaded by projectiles and self-destruct, and there is a limit to how much damage it can soak up, diminishing its usefulness as a counter ability.

Marvel Rivals players have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the state of Magneto’s ultimate ability, Meteor M. The popular hero shooter is currently in the beginning of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, which features Dracula as the main antagonist of Marvel Rivals. After Doctor Strange is trapped by the iconic vampire, it’s up to The Fantastic Four to lead the fight to save New York City.

Magneto is a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, which means his primary role is to mitigate damage while protecting his allies. As a tank, the mutant has the ability to summon a forward-facing shield to protect himself and allies for a short duration of time. The hero also has the ability to place the bubble on himself or a nearby ally, which will protect them from any and all damage with no cap. Magneto even has a team-up ability with Scarlet Witch that allows him to enhance his damage output by summoning a sword to attack enemies in front of him.

Official Marvel Rivals Artwork May Have Revealed 3 Unreleased Skins

NetEase Game surprises fans by revealing official artwork for Season 1: Eternal Night Falls that features three unreleased Marvel Rivals skins.

In a recent post on Reddit, TreeTurtle_852 took issue with the fact that Magneto’s ultimate, Meteor M, can be overloaded by projectiles and self-destruct. The mutant’s ability is meant to act as a counter, sucking up attacks from enemies on the battlefield. This can be especially useful when The Punisher or Star-Lord utilize their potent ultimates, which deal a significant amount of damage within a short span of time. Unfortunately, there is a limit to just how much damage Meteor M can soak up, making its usefulness as a counter ability somewhat diminished. This isn’t the only move to come under scrutiny recently, as many players want to see Moon Knight’s ultimate nerfed in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals Players Think Magneto’s Ultimate Is Underpowered

Some players have suggested that, like Magneto’s shield and bubble, there should be no limit to how much damage Meteor M can absorb. Others believe the attack should simply launch once it has reached its limit instead of self-destructing with no damage potential. Many fans pointed out that the ability almost feels pointless, especially when compared to characters with powerful ultimates like Marvel Rivals‘ Jeff the Land Shark.

Given the current win rates for Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, many gamers feel Magneto could use a bit of a boost anyway, and buffing his ultimate could do the trick. Players have also expressed a desire to see more ultimates with the ability to act as a counter on the battlefield, suggesting that it could add complexity to the game’s meta. Given the buffs and nerfs that were implemented with Season 1, it appears NetEase Games is paying close attention to the feedback from its community. With Season 1 well underway, many fans are looking forward to seeing what’s next for the popular hero shooter.
