Joining a sea of randomly generated levels and impeccable customization, the players’ main objective is to battle through the Dark Citadel, to obtain powerful equipment and items that open up new upgrades and abilities. Despite being the main location of the game, the Dark Citadel can only be unlocked later in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2’s gameplay, but once open, no two runs progress the same to keep gameplay fresh, and each completed expedition aids the upgrade of players’ towns, gear, and characters.
