Fuudo Qualifies for Capcom Cup

Fuudo has secured his spot at the Capcom Cup 11, thanks to a fantastic win this weekend. The player was in a tough battle up against another EVO Champion. However, by securing this spot he’s become the only Japanese player to qualify for this Capcom Cup, and the previous one for Street Fighter 6. A clear sign of the player’s continued strength in the game, even in the tougher-than-average Japanese events. If anyone was to manage this though, it makes sense to be Fuudo. Who has always been an impressive player in Street Fighter 6.

Fuudo is an older player, being 39 at the moment. However, in his longer history competing he’s managed some impressive wins, including winning an EVO title in 2011. He’s stuck to the top light of the game, and with the final World Warrior event he’s gotten his place secured from the Capcom Cup 11 Qualifiers.

This weekend, some players have addressed some problems with the Capcom Cup 11 qualifiers. MenaRD in particular has said the tournaments are too harsh on lower seeds. That their format isn’t a fair progression for everyone. He wouldn’t be the only player who misses a leaderboard system. Even last year, the Capcom Cup saw plenty of criticism for its harsher qualification system. Which saw a lot of fantastic players miss out on never quite winning a tournament, despite great placement. While not a perfect system, the players who qualified for the Capcom Cup have been interesting so far. It’s possible this continued criticism could lead to some changes next year, we’ll have to wait and see if things improve.
