Battlefield 6 Should Be a Definitive Turning Point For One Part of the Franchise

As DICE builds the next Battlefield game, it will have to decide what kind of single-player campaign it wants, if it wants one at all.

Bluesky user Rizible, who claims to be an ex-DICE developer, has asked fans to temper their expectations, as the new team behind the upcoming Battlefield 6 is almost completely different and works under a different philosophy. According to Rizible, after “DICE imploded,” 98% of the people who worked on previous Battlefield titles left EA. They assure that the game will take a different direction from what players are used to, as EA wants to “extract maximum revenue from their players and drive up shareholder value.”

98% of Those Who Worked on Previous Battlefield Titles Have Allegedly Left EA

So, if you’re a Battlefield fan, temper your expectations. This is a new era of the game made by a completely new group of people, following a new philosophy. Whether that’s good or bad depends on your personal outlook.

Rizible claims that EA’s new goal is to release a new Battlefield game every year, with limited single-player content, different seasons, a battle pass, and a Warzone-like mode—turning Battlefield into a live-service game. It would also include monetization strategies, such as cosmetics. They also revealed that some sort of A.I. Commander was part of the experimental features the studio wanted to add to the game. However, none of this information has been officially confirmed.

Players still don’t have an official release date for the new game, but many believe Battlefield 6 could launch in 2025. However, Rizible claimed in their long thread that players won’t see a new entry until 2026.

Live service games are very popular nowadays, as they offer ongoing updates with new content, bug fixes, seasonal events, community engagement, and plenty of things to keep games fresh. However, they have also been controversial, as many consider them to be simply a way to profit from games, stripping them of their original value. Whether or not Rizible’s claims prove to be true, it remains to be seen how Battlefield will evolve and how players will receive it.
