DNF vs Gen.G – LCK Cup 2025 Preview

The LCK 2025 season is underway and with several changes to the format, as well as the implementation of the Fearless draft mode, we have seen big differences in how LCK teams have bene playing. Teams are no longer going for the slow and conservative approach but instead are contesting objectives a lot more often, leading to consequent and messy skirmishes.

Despite all of this, Gen.G seem to have already found their groove this season. Not only did they retain their top side trio, but with Ruler returning to the roster, the team has found its last piece to dominate at all stages in the game. Late-game teamfights have always been Ruler’s forte, and support Duro has already convinced with great performances in the first week.

Based on the current form, Gen.G have looked the best out of all LCK teams and since they are in the same group as DK, we won’t get to see those two play against one another until later. While we wait for Gen.G to play against T1 in week 3, they will have to first pass the test against DNF, who have promising potential at the start of the 2025 season.

Series Breakdown

Even though the roster underwent several changes, the team seems to have good individual pieces to raise the team’s bar compared to last year. Berserker is solid and BuLLDoG continues to be an underrated mid lane capable of stepping up when needed.

What DNF needs to work on, however, is their macro play. Jungle Pyosik and support Life were clearly not on the same page in the series against DK and in the current meta, this can be a big weakness. It will take some time and it will likely be a determining factor for DNF’s success this split.

Against a team like Gen.G, mistakes leading up to objectives can heavily swing the lead into the other team’s favor, which is why I think Gen.G will get a 2-0 win against DNF. The important thing for DNF is to see if they have the ability to match Gen.G in those two games to better understand their performance.
