Using parts meant for a Destiny 2 Hunter Guardian, the player created a simple but easily identifiable costume guaranteed to keep The Last City’s foes in line.
Though recent difficulties have caused a declining player count in Destiny 2, the game remains an impressive testament to the creativity and power of a long-lasting active community. This is evident in the thriving Destiny 2 fashion scene, where players mix and match the hundreds of armor pieces released over the years to assemble shockingly creative costumes. Ranging from inventive original concepts to picture-perfect recreations of popular characters from other games and media, the fashionistas of Destiny 2 regularly prove the value developer Bungie added to the game when it introduced its armor customization system years back.

The Destiny franchise has had its share of highs and lows, though Destiny 2 has reached a new extreme that suggests a troubling future for the game.
Now a new costume from DestinyFashion Reddit community member Vex8333 brings the spirit of Netflix’s hit series Squid Game to Destiny 2. Using a selection of parts cobbled together from different Hunter armor sets and customized using the Destiny 2 transmog system, they created a near-perfect recreation of the uniform worn by the armed, masked guards that watch over the participants in the Squid Games. Dressed in bright pink jumpsuits and wearing masks that hide their faces, the Squid Game guards have become such a popular presence that even Call of Duty has launched a Squid Game crossover using them as the key image.
Destiny 2 Squid Game Costume Recreates The Iconic Pink Guard Uniform
Destiny 2 Squid Game Guard Costume (Hunter)
- Head – Icarus Drifter Mask (Erebos Glance Shader)
- Arms – Streetwise Grips (Sunrise Warrior Shader)
- Chest – Streetwise Vest (Sunrise Warrior Shader)
- Legs – Seventh Seraph Strides (Sunrise Warrior Shader)
- Class Item – Refugee Cloak (Sunrise Warrior Shader)
Thanks in part to the relative simplicity of the Squid Game guard costume, Vex8333 used Hunter armor pieces with a casual aesthetic for their costume. The Streetwise Grips and Vest from the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack form the top half of the jumpsuit, while the military pants and boots provided by the Seventh Seraph Strides further the simple, uniform look. The low-profile Refugee Cloak does away with the cape Hunters often wear, making it seem like a natural part of the “jumpsuit.”To complete the ensemble, Vex8333 used the Icarus Drifter Mask, which, when colored by the Erebos Glance Shader, looks just like the Squid Game guards’ face mask, which is entirely black except for a bright white shape.
Destiny 2 fans were greatly amused by the creative costume, responding with Squid Game quotes and memes. One commenter noticed that the mask shape used by Vex8333’s costume is an “X,” declaring that this character must be the “Secret X Soldier” that turns the Squid Game guards into “PlayStation guards,” referencing the fact that, with the addition of a “cross,” the face masks worn by the guards replicate the different button symbols used by PlayStation controllers.
