Summary
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard fans have plenty of ideas for DLC, even if BioWare has confirmed that this isn’t happening.
- One fan suggests that DLC could let us play as the Inquisitor again, letting us experience what is happening in Southern Thedas.
- Another says that DLC could implement choices from previous games, a common complaint about The Veilguard at launch.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t getting any DLC, as BioWare instead shifts its focus to Mass Effect 5. While this would be pretty surprising for most new single-player releases, it wasn’t in this case, as BioWare has struggled to release games for years, and some of us started to believe that we wouldn’t even get a fourth Dragon Age.
However, that doesn’t mean that fans are finished with The Veilguard. In fact, plenty of them would love to get some DLC, either expanding the game we got or giving us a prequel. Some even suggest that an expansion could address some of the issues that fans had with the game, like the fact that we couldn’t import most of our decisions from previous games.
Dragon Age Fans Share Their DLC Ideas For The Veilguard
BioWare might not be making it, but the demand is there
Reddit user Mpat96 explains what they’d want from hypothetical DLC for The Veilguard. “I feel like it could be a good way to address some of the issues people had with the game – at the start let us import more decisions from previous games, let us explore more of Tevinter and see some of its darker sides, let us interact with other non-antaam qunari, have more characters from previous games come back,” they say. “Basically, I want Veilguard’s version of Phantom Liberty or Shadow of the Erdtree.”
InsaneFandom has a couple of suggestions too, one of which being expanded epilogue slides, since the ones we get are incredibly barebones.
However, they also have ideas for a story DLC. “I’d love for them to have something significant with Varric,” they explain. “It could be pitched as a flashback, how they met, tracking down Solas etc. Something to better establish the relationship with Rook & show Varric’s actual personality.”
We wouldn’t necessarily have to play as Rook in an expansion either. “A DLC where you play as the Inquisitor in the Veilguard setting, just holding the line of the blight in each cities, defeat after defeat, retreating, new companions, the old companions could be there as an NPC commanding each of their own team, a depressing setting,” suggests Prestigious-Humor801.
Since it doesn’t seem that BioWare is going back on its plans to focus on Mass Effect 5 before anything else, we’ll have to wait and see what comes next for the Dragon Age series. At the very least, creator director John Epler has mentioned Dragon Age 5 as a concept, so a sequel is very much planned.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
