The Best Heroes To Play In Doom Match In Marvel Rivals

The Best Heroes To Play In Doom Match In Marvel Rivals

With Season One’s launch, Marvel Rivals introduced its first post-beta mode: Doom Match. As a deathmatch-inspired mode, you can choose any hero you want and compete to secure 16 kills before your opponents. The first map to showcase this mode is Sanctum Sanctorum, home to Doctor Strange, featuring portals, small rooms, and tight alleyways.

Let’s take a look at every map in Marvel Rivals and decide which is best.

Doom Match is designed to test your skills, whether you’re seeing how you individually compare to other players or experimenting with a new hero. It can make for an ideal training ground, but if you’re solely looking to win the actual mode, there are a few heroes to make the job easier.

Your Ultimate Ability recharges far quicker in Doom Match than in other modes, so its lethality is vital for a hero’s performance.

Mister Fantastic

Hero Type: Duelist

Narrow corridors and alleyways are perfect for projectile-based DPS heroes, and Mister Fantastic is an ideal candidate. You can almost always guarantee a kill when he reaches his Inflated state, beating out any Strategist, Vanguard, or Duelist. And fortunately, triggering that state is unbelievably straightforward with Sanctum Sanctorum’s layout.

You mainly want to use Mister Fantastic’s Flexible Elongation to close gaps and gain temporary shields. Once you’re directly in front of the opponent, you can then build Elasticity with his Distended Grip or simply finish them off with his regular punches. To ensure a knock, however, you should prioritize triggering his Inflated state.

Peni Parker

Hero Type: Vanguard

Peni Parker is known as the “Vanguard who just won’t die,” and Doom Match definitely reinforces that narrative. Once you deploy her Nest, no hero can beat her in a 1v1 scenario. That’s not even the best part — her mines comfortably garner kills, sometimes even after she dies.

The one thing holding Peni back is her mobility since the Nest forces you to camp in one position. Thus, while virtually unstoppable, it might be tedious to actually find targets. To improvise, you can try camping in a busy area (like the staircase inside Sanctum Sanctorum’s mansion) or just follow the action and deploy the Nest when you find two or more enemies.

Thor

Hero Type: Vanguard

In endurance fights, Thor has a better chance than anyone to outlast. He’s a melee powerhouse who can regularly gain shields and positional advantages. He has the mobility Peni Parker lacks, and his moveset is much more versatile overall, offering a solid balance of offense and defense.

Thor gets worse the further he’s away from the opponent, so the best course of action is trapping them indoors to maintain pressure. You should stay within closed spaces and away from teleporters since the last thing you want is for them to escape. Other than that, though, this hero’s a great pick that runs headfirst into a fight, requiring minimal setup while still producing results.

5

The Punisher

Hero Type: Duelist

The Punisher’s abilities are specifically designed for an offense-loving player, and Doom Match lets you fully utilize his kit. The turret is superb for large rooms and streets, the shotgun is absolutely devastating indoors, and the Ultimate Ability promises a killing spree.

Marvel Rivals: Team-Up Abilities, Explained

We’ll admit it. We yell “Avengers Assemble” every time we activate the Gamma Radiation Team-Up Ability. Don’t know what that is? Then, keep reading.

Because of Sanctum Santorum’s sharp corners and tight hallways, you should stick to The Punisher’s shotgun. The time-to-kill (or TTK) on it is absurdly quick and even serves as a solid kill-stealer. Additionally, focus on creating gaps with your smoke bombs, as those few moments of confusion for the enemy are usually all you need for a confirmed point.

4

Moon Knight

Hero Type: Duelist

Similar to spider mines in Peni Parker’s case, Moon Knight’s ankhs are absolutely deadly in Doom Match. There are tons of areas where you can plant an ankh outside normal vision, letting you melt enemy HP without any effort and even steal kills because of that ridiculous fire rate.

After the buffs to Moon Knight’s Ultimate Ability from Season 0, you have enough firepower to take out a full-HP tank or several DPS heroes. Also, considering how his ult recharges relatively faster than others, you can use it the moment it’s ready, and with its versatility, it’s usable anywhere around the map.

3

Hela

Hero Type: Duelist

If you want to lean in on stealing kills like Hawkeye but with significantly less effort, Hela is the way to go. Her high single-shot damage and hitscan attacks perform substantially well against Vanguards, especially when they’re low on health. She’s not as good at multi-killing as someone like Hawkeye or Moon Knight, but a good hiding position lets her steal kills quicker than anyone.

Aside from her attacks, Hela’s Astral Flock ability is also a great escape tool in alleyways, which comes in handy when you’re outnumbered. However, the main highlight is definitely her Ultimate Ability, a relentless killing machine that farms points like no other.

Use Hela’s ult in either crowded or open areas where you can score points en masse.

2

Winter Soldier

Hero Type: Duelist

Having all the necessary tools for a rapid TTK makes the Winter Soldier a strong pick. With most fights being at close range, it’s easier to grapple and aim accurately with him, but if you want to pile up points, his Ultimate Ability is more than enough.

Armed and Dangerous is already considered one of the strongest ults in the game, but Sanctum Santorum enables you to chain it much farther. Because your targets are often close and isolated, you can perform the attack multiple times, sometimes even surpassing five or six knocks. Furthermore, if the enemy’s still alive after the initial hit, you can readily use your other abilities to finish the job.

1

Hawkeye

Hero Type: Duelist

Hawkeye aiming and firing his arrow during his MVP animation in Marvel Rivals.

Going with Hawkeye means you fully trust your aim, and a good Hawkeye can end a Doom Match extremely quickly. On top of one-shotting duelists at medium range, he’s an excellent kill-stealer because of his high single-shot damage. He arguably has the biggest advantage in a Duelist-to-Duelist encounter, knocking out enemies before they even make a move.

Where he falls short, though, is against Vanguards, so only target one of those when they’re at low health since there’s a good chance you can steal a kill. Ideally, you should remain in the alleyways to avoid sudden ambushes while secretly hunting anyone who’s outside.
