For newcomers to the Dynasty Warriors series, or those struggling with the gameplay changes to Dynasty Warriors: Origins, these beginner tips can help

Most Battle Arts can be learned by leveling up weapon types in Dynasty Warriors: Origins or buying them from shops. Some even have multiple ways to get them, but all players need to know is that they need to have these Battle Arts prepared as soon as possible for the first few weapon types in the game.

Dispersion Arrow (All)

Prepare To Get Bow-verized

Dispersion Arrow in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Dispersion Arrow is one of the few Battle Arts in the game that any type of weapon can equip. There are no bows in the game but this skill does use one which is a shame because the Dynasty Warriors series have provided ranged weapons like bows before as a common weapon type. Players can hold down the activation button and the longer they do the stronger it will become. It’s a good attack that prices a wide volley of arrows shooting out at incoming hordes of soldiers. Players can pretend they are Legolas from The Lord of the Rings the way they handle the bow with this ability. The only downside is the large cost of Bravery Points needed to activate Dispersion Arrow.

6

Mad Blade Rush (Sword)

Twirl Thy Sword Young Hero

Mad Blade Rush in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Mad Blade Rush is a Battle Art attached to the basic sword that players start with. It’s another good ability to deal with large crowds of enemies. It will charge the player forward with their sword, twirling it from side to side in a rush attack followed by one final surge to push enemies back.

There are a lot of big battles where enemies will literally be on top of the player which is why crowd dispersing abilities are so necessary to equip. Mad Blade Rush’s only downside is that it’s not as effective against officers in the field but its low Bravery Point is a plus.

5

Palm Strike (All)

Stop Officers Dead In Their Tracks

Palm Strike in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Palm Strike is another Battle Art that does not need an associated weapon to activate it. This is odd considering it’s an unarmed attack and Gauntlets are basically fist weapons like Monk classes found in a lot of RPGs. Gauntlets aside, Palm Strike is one of the earlier Battle Arts players will be given. The tutorial will explain all players need to know as this attack can stop officers from activating their Battle Arts. Truthfully, most Battle Arts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can cancel attacks but Palm Strike can also stagger enemies easier and it only costs one Bravery Point. This means players should be able to use it whenever they need to counter an officer charging up.

4

Piercing Vengeance (Spear)

An Easier Counter

Piercing Vengeance in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Countering is not a necessary skill players need to learn in Dynasty Warriors: Origins unless they are playing on the harder difficulties. That said, those who want to counter but are facing trouble with the time can equip the Piercing Vengeance skill when they get the Spear weapon. Activating this Battle Art will put the player in a countering stance. If an enemy decides to attack, players will automatically counter although they will fail if more than a few seconds pass thus wasting the skill’s activation.

3

Sea Of Flames (Podao)

A Fiery Sword Strike

Sea Of Flames in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Sea of Flames is attached to the Podao which is a two-handed sword. It’s one of the strongest early weapon types in the game but it also comes with the downside of being slow. This Battle Art makes it worth taking the Podao into battle though because its effects are devastating. Players will strike up the ground and create a small rectangle of fire where they hit. This will last a few seconds and anyone standing in the fire will quite obviously take damage. It’s not as cool as using fire magic like a typical mage in an RPG but Sea of Flames is still an awesome Battle Art.

2

Stone Strike Blast (Gauntlet)

Create A Chi Wave Of Energy

Stone Strike Blast in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Stone Strike Blast is tied to the aforementioned Gauntlet weapons and will make players feel like a King Fu master mixed with an Earthbender from the Avatar series. Players will take their stand, gather energy, and then shoot a pulsating wall of energy forward.

Which Faction Should You Choose in Dynasty Warriors Origins? (No Spoilers)

Dynasty Warriors: Origins players will need to decide whether to side with Cao Cao, Liu Bei, or the Sun clan by the end of the game’s third chapter.

It’s a great attack when surrounded by enemies but because the cost is so high, players may need to use it sparingly. If players have accessories equipped or any other type of item that can boost Bravery Points then they won’t have to worry about holding back on using Stone Strike Blast or any other type of Battle Art that uses a lot of energy.

1

Tornado Slam (Wheels)

Send Enemies Back To Kansas

Tornado Slam in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Tornado Slam is another high-cost Battle Art but it’s incredibly powerful to use in crowds and it’s hilarious to watch. Players will use their twin Wheel weapons to gather up a tornado on the spot. This will send enemies into the air in a torrent and sometimes the game will show dozens of enemies all tangled together at once.

It’s like players are gathering enemy soldiers to start rolling them around in the Katamari Damacy games. Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have worked on tons of spinoff Musou games based on other properties like Fire Emblem and One Piece, so it technically would not be that weird to see The Prince from Katamari Damacy enter the ring one day. Either way, Tornado Slam in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is amazing.
