Since then, the Nika lore has been expanded upon greatly and fans absolutely cannot wait to see the entire story behind the Sun God and how the myth surrounding him came to be in the first place. Right now, fans only know bits and pieces, and what is clear is that Nika is a liberator, who laughs and saves the people of the world, but at the same time, is a destroyer, who will completely obliterate the whole world. Curiously enough, Nika destroying the world is something that has been brought up in the story on many occasions already, and it seems there is credence to the idea that Luffy will go on to destroy not just Fishman Island, but also the entire remaining world as well.

The Giants believe that Loki, the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, who is currently locked up, can go on to destroy the entire world, if he’s let loose upon the world. Meanwhile, Loki himself claims to be the Sun God who will “destroy the world,” which puts into place the idea that the Sun God can potentially be a destroyer as well. But, at the same time, the Giants of Elbaf themselves don’t know much about the Nika lore, considering the fact that it is in a language that none of them can understand, and at the same time, there can be mistranslations due to various understandings of it. This is why Nika is said to be a savior by some, and a destroyer by others. Bottom line, what is clear is that Nika always foresees major events in the One Piece world whenever they happen.

As far as the idea of the destruction of the world goes, One Piece chapter 1136 once again made it clear that Nika could potentially be a destroyer as well. According to the Elbaphian text, the world of One Piece has been destroyed two times in the past. The first time was when the Sun God Nika emerged for the very first time, and fought against an unknown force. The second time was when Joy Boy Appeared and fought against the World Government. Both these occasions saw the destruction of the world, which means that the appearance of Nika now, through Luffy, spells doom for the world once again.

Fans might be confused by the content of One Piece chapter 1136. After all, it took the idea of Nika being the Sun God who brings smiles and joy and made it into “the Sun God who could bring destruction or liberation.” Given that both of these ideas are based on an ancient language that cannot be deciphered any longer, what is clear is the fact that all of these are simply words whose true meaning is lost to time. This is essential, because otherwise, the world will stay the wretched place it is, where the World Nobles can do what they want enslave who they want, and destroy any piece of evidence that suggests their hands are bloody in the Void Century. The World Government isn’t just a group of people. It is an ideology that Luffy has to fight and beat. In doing so, Luffy will have to shake the whole world and do things that reshape countries. For instance, Luffy will have his allies break down the borders of Wano and unleash the Ancient Weapon Pluton. Luffy will also have to break down the Red Line, atop which sits the Holy Land of Marijoa. Luffy will have to destroy the Fishman Island, and this is something that needs to happen if the dark history of the Fishmen is to be erased and a new future for them under the real sun is to be carved. There is much in the One Piece world that needs to change, and Luffy cannot do it without dismantling the old system.

As mentioned already, Luffy has to destroy to rebuild, which perfectly lines up with the idea that the Sun God Nika is a liberator and a destroyer. He has to destroy the current world order in order for the people to truly be liberated of the evil that is the World Government and he needs to fight them to truly ensure the freedom of the people. Only after Luffy liberates the world will the face of the world change. It must also be kept in mind that the world of One Piece is bound to flood again in the upcoming war. When that happens, Luffy will eventually have to save the world by deflooding it somehow, and in doing that a new world will be carved out. Lands that hadn’t existed for centuries will show up and races that were almost extinct will finally be allowed to come to the surface. The world of One Piece will shake soon enough, but this shock is necessary to remove the evil from it.
