Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies fans are just weeks away from the debut of another round-based experience. Coming sooner than anyone expected, the response to the Tomb has been overwhelmingly positive, albeit with continued criticism about Call of Duty’s use of AI. Heavy metal fans are excited about the music teaser shared for the map, lore lovers are hyped to learn more about Richtofen and the Sentinel Artifact, and gameplay enjoyers are optimistic given the map’s likely homages to Origins. However, one big mystery regarding The Tomb is its Wonder Weapon.
Thus far, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies has offered a mixture of new and returning Wonder Weapons for players to wield against the undead horde. The ever-present Ray Gun is featured, while TranZit’s Jet Gun was finally given the glow-up it deserved. On the other hand, the Beamsmasher offers a unique gameplay style where players are encouraged to weaken enemies with its secondary fire before finishing them off with its primary laser, while Citadelle Des Morts’ four elemental swords give the map a unique vibe. It sounds like the new Wonder Weapon will find itself in the legacy category, and there is one clear candidate that stands out from the pack.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies: Predicting The Tomb’s ‘Iconic’ Returning SMG
reyarch has teased a fan favorite weapon for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2’s new Zombies map, and a few options immediately come to mind.
What Could CoD Zombies’ Tomb Wonder Weapon Be?
In Treyarch’s big blog post released to celebrate 115 Day, the developer shared that The Tomb’s Wonder Weapon will be “reimagined” and comes from Treyarch’s “past.” There are numerous options for the potential Wonder Weapon that could be returning in the next Call of Duty Zombies map, including:
- Elemental staves
- Ray Gun Mark 2
- Wunderwaffe DG-2
- Thundergun
- VR-11
- Scavenger
- 31-79 JGb215 (Baby Gun)
When thinking about The Tomb’s setting, cases can be made for various Wonder Weapons. For example, the Thundergun and Baby Gun could have been sitting around the dig site as ways to blast or shrink debris, while the Scavenger could have served a similar purpose in the Dark Aether universe since it’s basically a Dynamite gun. Alternatively, the VR-11’s presence in MWZ means Treyarch has already rebuilt this controversial Wonder Weapon recently, so perhaps it could re-use those assets and further improve the weapon like it did with the Jet Gun. However, the most likely candidate is also the most obvious, with that being the elemental staves from Origins.
Even if they do not get added alongside The Tomb, the Ray Gun Mark 2 and Wunderwaffe could be expected eventually, as CoD Zombies dataminers have found mentions of these guns within the code.
Perhaps Treyarch will bring back all four of the staff variants from this legendary Zombies map, as it is already teasing that the map design will have “a wink and a nod” to the classic location through the 115 day teasers. With both Origins and the Tomb centered around a dig site, bringing back the classic elemental staves – or introducing some new staff variants – feels very likely. Additionally, Treyarch left a tongue-in-cheek remark below a fan’s ice staff replica, saying that it is “definitely not highlighting” the build “for any particular reason.” In some shape or form, a staff appearance (or a new weapon that clearly resembles it) now seems very likely for The Tomb.
The Tomb’s Leaked Wonder Weapon Info Gives Treyarch Some Wiggle Room
It’s worth noting that leaks from Twitter user @Nanik0s covered by Call of Duty Zombies YouTubers like CodeNamePizza have encouraged the staff theory, with the new Wonder Weapon referred to as a Torch in the code. Leaked mock-ups of its design depict it with a staff-like appearance, and there will supposedly be four stones that can be inserted into it to presumably give it special effects. Essentially, Treyarch could be once again relying on the four variant setup that has proven so effective in the past, allowing each player in a full lobby to have a different version of the map’s strongest killing tool.
If the map’s setting, Treyarch’s deliberately suggestive teaser, and the leaked design for this “Torch” Wonder Weapon were not enough to evoke Origins vibes, one of its supposed special abilities will. Apparently, the Torch will produce healing orbs, which will probably spread to teammates and the weapon’s user to temporarily boost health or refill it like the Life Mend ammo mod. Perhaps the orbs will also be able to revive allies, though this is purely speculation. Regardless, this sounds like an evolution of Sekhmet’s Vigor, an aspect of Origins’ upgraded staves that allowed players to revive their friends instantly and from a short distance. While there is a chance that Treyarch could deliberately be misleading fans with its Origins teasers, and that the datamined text could be misdirection as well, it’s more likely that fans are about to see a proper successor to CoD Zombies’ iconic staves.
