Steam Users Have New Free Game to Claim for January 2025

From now until January 24 at 12:00pm CST, Steam users can claim Mini Thief for free. Steam does not have a regularly scheduled free game giveaway program like its competitor, the Epic Games Store. This means that Steam users don’t always know when a new freebie will be in the window, but they are still able to claim free titles on a semi-regular basis.

All kinds of free Steam games were given away in 2024, and there will likely be quite a few on offer in 2025 as well. Like with other free game giveaways, the free Steam games can typically only be claimed for a limited time. Considering this, Steam users really need to keep an eye out and act fast if they hope to get all the freebies.

While stealth games like this aren’t for everyone, Mini Thief‘s multiplayer support may make it more appealing to a wider audience. Steam users can try the game for themselves completely free of charge, and as long as they snag it by January 24, it’s theirs to keep forever.

Mini Thief is Free on Steam Right Now

Mini Thief isn’t the only free game PC gamers can claim right now. PC gamers willing to use the Epic Games Store launcher can get new free games on a weekly basis. The current Epic Games Store free game is Escape Academy, a fun co-op puzzle game that functions as a series of virtual escape rooms. But like Mini Thief, Escape Academy will only be free for a limited time. PC gamers interested in adding it to their digital libraries should be sure to claim Escape Academy for free through the Epic Games Store by next Thursday, January 23 at 10:00am CST.

At that point, Escape Academy will be replaced by the next Epic Games Store free game, Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery. Then Behind the Frame will be replaced by another free game the week after that, and so on and so forth until Epic decides to end the free game program. Epic has not indicated that it has any plans to do that in the near future, so PC gamers should have plenty of free titles to claim between the Epic Games Store and Steam in the months ahead.
