STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is certainly not for the faint-hearted. As if the killer mutants and anomalies littered around The Zone weren’t enough of a risk, the several warring factions vying for control of it, each with their own particular ideologies they want to enforce, are perhaps the most dangerous threat of all. Nowhere is this better exemplified than through the mad monolithian noosphere shaman, Faust.
Following the first assault on the Duga, in which Faust uses his illusory clones and activates the colossal structure, Skif will be forced to retreat and regroup before taking him on again, either with the Spark or Ward factions. The choices will impact the start of the mission rather than the end, and in both cases will result in a boss battle with Faust. The fight is not as straightforward as it may first seem, and you will have to be aware of your surroundings and fire accurately in order to defeat him and progress.

Where To Find Faust
The standoff with Faust takes place on the rooftop of the Duga Comm Center. First, he will appear in the lower levels with several zombies under his control and will use the mind-warp abilities of controllers to distort your vision before he flees. Follow the way he runs and stay alert for both zombies and Monolithian guards. Pick up as much ammo as you can find for your available weapons as you will need it for the upcoming fight.
Head through the room with the lantern/emitter and up the stairs toward the roof. It should be relatively easy to find your way to the roof, but be prepared to battle guards the whole way up. Make sure to resupply with all the available resources in the lower room before heading up to the rooftop itself.

How To Defeat Faust
The first thing you’ll notice about fighting Faust is that you are, in fact, just fighting mere phantoms. No amount of psi-block or helmet upgrades can counteract this effect. Instead, you will have to destroy the various lanterns positioned around the rooftop, and you can altogether ignore the illusory Faust clones if need be. Defeating them can be a good way of getting more ammo, though it’s likely to cost more than it will return. Instead, targeting the lanterns (a shotgun is recommended) will break the illusion and cause Faust to spawn for real.
In this second phase, he will have a lantern/emitter strapped to his thigh. Shooting at this device repeatedly will cause it to breakdown until Faust can eventually be damaged. Without first disabling the rooftop lanterns and then the leg device, Faust himself will be able to constantly regenerate his health and withstand any amount of punishment you can throw at him. Once they have been destroyed, it will be fairly straightforward and a cutscene will trigger to indicate the successful completion of the fight.
