Summary
- Official Sailor Moon live stage performance to be shown in US & UK with English subtitles.
- Presentation based on original manga, not an original story, marketed as a “2.5D musical.”
- Performance schedule includes various cities in US and London, with tickets available.
Sailor Moon fans in the US will be able to watch an official live stage performance in March! Stage performances for anime or manga series (Sailor Moon included) are quite common in Japan, but those presentations hardly make their way overseas — partially due to obvious language barriers, but also, the official DVD for those presentations, which could be subtitled, is not usually sold outside Japan.
Another possible reason is that the licensing costs to release those DVDs/Blu-ray are too big compared to sales expectations. But Sailor Moon fans in the US and in the UK are lucky this year. Well, a franchise that can partner with Ayumi Hamasaki can go anywhere else.

Sailor Moon The Super Live
This performance first debuted in 2018 in Japan. Kaori Miura (The Prince of Tennis) is credited as writer (Book and Lyrics) and director. Satomi Toma is the choreographer, and Go Sakabe and KOHEI composed the music.
The production is marketed as a “2.5D musical presentation”. It is an adaptation of the manga (which is not as cute as it looks), and not any kind of original story.
The British website credits Animecon 25, Crunchyroll and Artbox as partners, while no partners are credited in the American one.
Sailor Moon is available to stream on Hulu. Sailor Moon Crystal is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu, PlutoTV, Netflix and other services.
