As you explore the skies in Aloft, you’ll come across various resources you can use to develop your own personal floating island. From gathering livestock to growing your own crops, there’s a lot to get done. None of it can be successful without a steady supply of water–but you’ll find it’s harder to come by than you thought.
There’s water everywhere, but it’s not clean. We’ll help you purify it so you can start cooking better recipes, watering your crops, and quenching your thirst. It’s important to stay hydrated, even in a fictional world, if only for the temporary stat boosts.

How To Get Water
It’s not hard to get water. Thankfully, you don’t need an additional vessel to carry it at first. You can scoop up cups of water in quantities of five without any tools, from any source. Whether it’s a pond, waterfall, or river, any water source can be accessed without depleting it.
Water is stored in stacks of 50, so make sure you have enough space in your inventory.
The downside is that the water is dirty and unusable. You can’t drink it or water crops with it until it’s purified, but the way to do that isn’t clear right away.
How To Clean Dirty Water
To clean the surplus of dirty water, you’ll need to collect a good amount of charcoal. You can clean the water without a workbench, using a cup of dirty water and a piece of charcoal. When you put them together, you’ll get clean water!
Clean water can be used to make drinks like coffee, though it can be consumed alone for the Hydrated status. With this, your attack speed will be increased. It’s a good idea to have a quick drink before fighting against the corruption plaguing the floating islands.
