Summary
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone offer LA wildfire relief DLC with in-game bonuses.
- Major corporations like Sony have already donated to wildfire relief efforts.
- Activision aims to use its large player base to contribute to wildfire relief.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone players will be able to contribute to Los Angeles wildfire relief by buying a new DLC pack. Fires have been spreading throughout southern California since January 7, killing dozens of people and causing tens of thousands of others to evacuate as emergency responders try to get the blazes under control. Activision now joins the relief effort while giving Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone fans a chance to pitch in.
As the LA-area fires have raged on, donations have flooded in from major corporations and individuals alike. On January 13, Sony announced it was donating $5 million to wildlife support and recovery efforts amid the disaster, and Disney, Comcast, and the NFL have all donated millions, too. This funding joins a large crowdfunding effort from consumers across the country — something Activision hopes to take further by giving players a chance to unlock in-game content while supporting first responders and affected civilians.

The official Call of Duty Twitter page announced the LA Fire Relief DLC on Twitter on January 18, saying 100% of the proceeds from the package would go to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and Direct Relief, a nonprofit humanitarian aid charity. Black Ops 6 and Warzone players who buy the DLC will receive a special in-game skin for their donation. Activision had previously announced that Warzone would receive less content in Season 2 than originally planned, so fans can both enjoy some unexpected in-game bonuses while giving to a good cause.
Call of Duty Announces New DLC and Donates $1 Million to Fund Wildfire Relief
In addition to the Fire Relief DLC, Activision is donating $1 million to relief efforts. With the DLC, though, the company offers players the chance to take part in the movement and potentially raise a significant amount of cash for those affected by the fires. While Black Ops 6 has lost 47% of its player base since its October 2024 launch, it’s still a massive title. Between it and Warzone, the Call of Duty series can reach enough people to drum up a considerable relief fund.
The gaming industry has played a big role in humanitarian efforts in the past. Collectively, the sector raised over $200 million for the Ukrainian people after Russia’s invasion of the country. Now that eyes are on California, companies like Activision and Sony and their massive fanbases have a chance to make an important impact on the disaster-struck region.
