Black Ops 6 Player Creates Random Class Generator

Summary

  • In a long-awaited update, Treyarch has revealed that the ability to disable crossplay will be coming to Black Ops 6 ranked and Warzone Ranked in Season 2.
  • The feature will not be present in standard multiplayer at launch, though Treyarch will be “monitoring” things closely.
  • Fans have been calling on the feature to be implemented, though there is some fear about its impact on the non-cheating PC gaming community.

After what feels like months of waiting, Treyarch has revealed that the ability to disable crossplay is coming to Black Ops 6. Beginning with the launch of Season 2, console players will be able to toggle crossplay and limit their competition to just other console gamers.

In a post on the Call of Duty blog, Treyarch affirmed that it heard “about wanting the choice to toggle cross-play in Ranked Play since its launch earlier this season, and in the spirit of improving the gameplay experience, we’re returning to the way we’ve traditionally handled cross-play.”

Every Update Makes Me Like Black Ops 6 Less And Less

Black Ops 6 has quickly become an embarrassment.

The feature will go live for Ranked Play and Warzone Ranked, meaning standard multiplayer modes will not have the feature, at least not at launch. “We’ll be monitoring closely and will consider further changes to prioritize the integrity of the ecosystem,” Treyarch wrote in part.

Crossplay Has Its Pros And Cons

At a surface-level, crossplay is a great feature. It allows players to find fuller lobbies relatively quickly due to the expanded search. More so, it allows them to play with a wide variety of other gamers across other platforms, including other friends.

At the same time, in a multiplayer-focused game like Call of Duty, it can also spell disaster. That is largely due to the prevalence of cheaters, particularly on PCs, which makes the experience a frustrating one for console players simply looking to play the game as it is.

The feature has been a long-running request by players, though its implementation is being met with trepidation. Some players feel that it will further impact good-natured (AKA non-cheaters) PC players’ ability to find matches. As TheGamer’s Sam Woods has reported, Black Ops 6 has seen massive dips in player counts, including figures in line with pre-Black Ops 6. Only time will tell how much impact the update will have, but it’s certainly something worth monitoring.
