The first big announcement regarding WWE 2K25 is on the way, which raises plenty of questions about what features will be revealed. From its cover star to gameplay mechanics, WWE 2K25 is filled with unanswered mysteries, but as the clock ticks, the teased announcement will shed light on what the wrestling title has in store for fans.

Through the years, wrestling has had its fair share of video game adaptations, and one of the most popular series was SmackDown vs. RAW. While the WWE’s video games were under this branding, the series boasted some great features, but one of the best is due for a comeback. SmackDown vs. RAW allowed players to customize and upgrade their own locker rooms, and this could work wonders for WWE 2K25.

The KO Storyline Is Just What Cody Rhodes’ Title Reign Needed

Cody Rhodes winning the title was the climax to one of the greatest storylines in WWE history, and it’s naturally been really difficult to connect with Cody as a champion. After years of witnessing such a huge presence and dominant heel in Roman Reigns, nobody has been able to create the same level of rivalry with Rhodes. The Kevin Owens storyline is exactly what was needed, at a time when Cody either needed a heel turn or to drop the title, and we may very well see a resurgence for KO.

WWE 2K25 Could Learn a Valuable Lesson From SmackDown vs. RAW’s Locker Rooms

SmackDown vs. RAW introduced customizable locker rooms, allowing players to make the space their own unique getaway. From memorabilia to decorations, the series turned a simple room into an interactive way for players to flex their creativity and have fun outside the ring. Giving fans the opportunity to have fun within the game by decorating the locker room and unlocking special content specific to this room was a popular feature for SmackDown vs. Raw, and it would likely be a hit for WWE 2K25. In those classic wresting games, players could add:

  • Posters
  • Banners
  • Neon signs
  • Figures
  • Sofas
  • Beds
  • Adjustable lighting
  • Floors
  • Wallpaper
  • Sound system
  • Trophy cases
  • Belt cases
  • Training machines

Within a wrestling game, players were also able to make their own dream room that showcased a player, or their character’s, personality. From sofas that could be made into caskets or making one’s bed a wrestling ring, there were some impressive and unique decoration options. WWE 2K25 is set to make a big announcement to fans on January 27, and much of this event’s content is unclear at the moment. While there’s likely to be a release date reveal, there is also the chance for players to get a sneak peek into the game’s mechanics.

Of course, customizable locker rooms in WWE 2K25 is likely just wishful thinking, but there is still hope for such a feature to be included until 2K brings forth an update that debunks such speculation. It may be a pipe dream, but it would also be a strong decision by 2K to take inspiration from past wrestling games and their strongest features, as it’s something that would feel like a natural fit for MyRise. Something like customizable locker rooms is so simple, but it’s an incredibly effective way to bring a more immersive experience to players.

Custom locker rooms in WWE 2K25 would also be a great way for developers to regularly update the game with new content.

Customizable locker rooms inWWE 2K25could offer a treasure trove of great memorabilia to decorate one’s area with. Whether it be Rhea Ripley posters ora Cody Rhodes action figure, this type of content would likely be a hit with a lot of fans. While this may not be a feature that every fan would play around with, it could be the perfect incentive to keep a lot of players coming back who crave more outside the game’s fighting focus, as they could have an in-game area to display trophies and rewards from in-game challenges.

At the 2024 Game Awards, WWE 2K24 was nominated in the best Sport/Racing Game category.

As the wait for January 27 continues, only time will tell what WWE 2K25 has to offer players. Its predecessor WWE 2k24 provided a solid wrestling experience, so it will be interesting to see how 2K plans to one-up itself with a fresh entry.
