Baldur’s Gate 3: 13 Best Legendary Weapons, Ranked

All legendary weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 offer players great power, but which of them are definitive choices to bring into the party to win the fight?

Whether they’re in the wilderness of Act One or found within the streets of the Gate in Act 3, some of these merchants are even important enough to impact the game’s story. The best merchants in Baldur’s Gate 3 include NPCs with their own backstories and personalities, who often sell more than just weapons and gear.

Updated January 16, 2025, by Kristy Ambrose: If there was a video game award for Game With the Best Vendors, Baldur’s Gate 3 would have won it by now. In the meantime, they’ll have to be content with the many already lining the shelves at Larian Studios. Patch 8, which is likely to be the last addition the studio makes to the game before moving on to other projects, includes a substantial amount of information that might widen the array of choices in the following vendors’ inventories.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, a character’s Charisma affects how much items will cost, but if players help an NPC who is also a vendor by completing a quest or following them through all three acts, they might offer the player a discount or even a gift from their inventory. A few of these characters appear several times throughout the game, offering better and different items each time, while others only appear if the protagonist makes certain choices.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Brem

In The Zhentarim Hideout In Act One

The Zhentarim Hideout in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Brem will only sell to the player if they are friendly with the mercenary group

Not every player will be on good terms with a group of thieves and mercenaries, but for those players who don’t mind or might even be looking for a connection to the criminal underworld of Baldur’s Gate, this is a good place to start.

Getting access to Brem’s inventory starts with finding Rugan and Olly on the Risen Road and starting the quest “Find the Hidden Shipment.” The NPCs might die while fighting gnolls, but provided the main character acquires the Caravan Strongbox they can still gain access to the Zhentarim Hideout and Brem. This is also the location that starts the “Save The Artist” quest, and if the player has the money, it’s Brem they speak to about freeing Oskar.

The leader of this faction of Zhentarim, Zarys, gives Brem permission to sell his special stock if the players return the strongbox. This is where players can find The Jolty Vest
, an essential component of the Tempest Cleric build. If the protagonist keeps it, they can still trade with Brem, but they don’t have access to his special items.

Dammon

The Hollow Inside The Emerald Grove

dammon last light inn baldur's gate 3
Dammon at Last Light Inn in BG3.
  • Also found at Last Light Inn in Act 2 and The Forge of the Nine within Baldur’s Gate’s Lower City in Act 3.

One of the earliest encountered merchants, the friendly blacksmith Dammon is first encountered as a refugee in Act One’s Druid Grove. Dammon is an extremely useful merchant throughout the game and is an intrinsic component to finishing Karach’s quest.

If players manage to keep him alive through each act, he will appear in the next act offering even better items each time. Plus, he’s also one of the most consistently wealthy traders, making him a great choice for players who need to sell off some items.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Amulets You Can Get In Act 1, Ranked

Before players begin Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3, they should make sure to get some of the amulets available in Act 1.

Some of Dammon’s best Act One offerings include the Safeguarding Shield, thanks to the extra Saving Throw +1 it gives whoever holds it. In Act Two, he offers the Harmonium Halberd, which is a great option for any physical damage dealers, like Karlach.

Finally, in Act Three, some of Dammon’s best offerings include the Legacy of the Master’s gloves, which will enhance weapon attacks. Another great choice is the Boots of Persistence, which are massively useful for their Longstrider and Freedom of Movement effects.

Withers

Find Him In The Dank Crypt

Withers in the daytime
  • The God Of Death and the art of subclass changes and multiclassing.

It’s easy to forget that Withers is a vendor, not only because he’s a permanent fixture in the camp after being found in the Dank Crypt in Act 1, but also because the wares he sells aren’t really tangible and can’t be found anywhere in the game.

Instead of gear or weapons, Withers has a list of different services regarding multiclassing characters, changing their subclasses or classes, and most important of all, resurrections. If a party member dies in the wilderness and can’t be returned to life on the road, either because nobody has a scroll or spell or their body can’t be recovered, Withers can restore them. It also doesn’t matter how much money the protagonist spends with him because a character with a high Dexterity and a decent Sleight of Hand ability can pickpocket that money back at any time.

11

Blurg & Omeluum

The Myoconid Colony At Ebonlake Grotto

Trader Blurg
  • Both Blurg and Omeluum are connected to other quests and the overarching storyline

Upon entering the Underdark, players can head straight for the Myconid Colony. Not only is the Colony home to an intriguing quest that spans its way across the Underdark, weaving its plot line with several other quests, but it’s also home to a friendly Bugbear, Blurg, and his rather unusual illithid companion, Omeluum.

For lovers of BG3 looking to dive into a literary adventure, here are some great books to check out.

Omeluum can only be traded with if the player agrees to help him complete a certain quest in the nearby Wizard’s tower. Both of these merchants offer some great items that can last even through much of Act Two. Some of Blurg’s highlights include the Boots of Genial Striding
and the Circlet Of Blasting
, and Psychic Spark
, all of which offer helpful casts or movement buffs.

10

Roah Moonglow

The Shattered Sanctum Inside The Goblin Camp

roah moonglow
  • Roah moves to the left side of the entry hall of Moonrise Towers in Act 2 to the Lower City Sewers, and if she lives, again in the Thieves’ Guildhall in Act 3.

Roah Moonglow is another character who will make her way throughout the acts of Baldur’s Gate 3 as the player does. Though she’s a rather morally dubious trader working for the Zhentarim, and allying with whoever she must as she travels in tandem with the player, and she has some great items to offer to them.

Some highlights of her Act One inventory include the Gold Wyrmling Staff
for players interested in combining magic with brute strength. The Monster Slayer Glaive is another powerful item that will come in very handy throughout both Act One and Act Two.

9

Volo

Meet Him In The Druid Grove

Volo in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Volo will need to be rescued from Act One‘s Goblin Camp to join the player’s camp.

Though Volo may seem irritatingly clueless to some players, he’s a useful ally to have around. Initially found trapped in the Goblin Camp in Act One, he’s a great merchant and one that’s made even better by the fact that he’ll always be in the player’s camp until he finds himself in trouble once again in Act Three.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Every Character That Can Join Your Camp

Players have the opportunity to recruit several characters to their camp in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Another great thing about Volo is that if he’s traveling with the player, he can be stolen from essentially every time the player goes to camp, as long as the player’s Tav is good enough at stealing things. This means players can gain repeated access to extremely useful Scrolls with spells that will grow alongside the party’s level. He has access to many great scrolls, including scrolls like Scroll of Featherfall and, for higher-level players, Scroll of Otto’s Irresistible Dance

Lady Esther

Has A Small Campsite Near The Rosymorn Monastery Trail Path

lady esther bg3
  • Characters with decent Charisma or Deception skills can trick her into buying the owlbear egg as a double for a Githyanki egg

Set close to the entrance of the Rosymorn Monastery Trail, Lady Esther is a great late Act One merchant. She sells a plethora of items, including The Graceful Cloth
, great for Monks and Rogues, and the Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle
, which comes with the ability to cast Scorching Ray as well as being another great option for Monks.

Players should be aware that although Lady Esther can be found again in Act Three, she will not be a trader and the previous items cannot be pickpocketed from her. As such, be sure to purchase or steal from her in Act One, as the opportunity won’t appear again even if she will.

7

Quartermaster Talli

At The Last Light Inn, In The Courtyard

Talli in BG3
Quartermaster Talli in BG3.
  • Quartermaster Talli is also found salvaging supplies in the ruins of Moonrise Towers at the end of Act 2.

Talli sells a huge range of useful items, including the Shield of Devotion
, which is amazing for spellcasters, and the Incandescent Staff
which offers both Fire Bolt as a cantrip and Fireball as a spell and the The Mighty Cloth
, which is great for characters like Karlac.

The first time the player reaches Last Light Inn and speaks to Talli, there’s a dialogue option available where the main character can ask if she has anything to give away. She teases about being “cheeky” but hands over a decent amount of free camp supplies. She also collects and sells useful wares in Moonrise Towers if the Harpers attack successfully.

6

Echo Of Abazigal

In The Subterranean Murder Tribunal

baldur's gate 3 echo of abazigal merchant with craterflesh gloves
  • Available only for those aligned with Bhaal and have become one of his unholy assassins.

There are two ways to interact with the Murder Tribunal in the sewers beneath Baldur’s Gate. Walk in and start a fight, or pledge to serve Bhaal by completing the quest “Impress the Murder Tribunal” and becoming an Unholy Assassin. Should the protagonist choose the latter, they’ll have access to the merchant Echo of Abazigal, who has some of the most advanced and impressive gear and weapons in the game.

Along with an impressive selection of new equipment, the Echo of Abazigal also carries a wide assortment of potions and even has some rare dyes. Two of his best items are the Bhaalist Gloves and Bhaalist Armor, which both give bonuses to critical hit chance and Initiative rolls.

5

Lann Tarv

On The Ground Floor Of Moonrise Towers

Lann Tarv in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Lann Tarv is found in Act Two, standing inside by the main doors to the tower, and has great items for aggressive players

Lann Tarv is one of the very best merchants Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer, if only because players can gain a large, quick, and relatively easy discount almost as soon as they meet him in Act Two. That being said, every item Lann Tarv sells is amazing for at least one character in the party, including Karlach, Gale, Shadowheart, and Lae’zel.

As such, it’s recommended that the player visit Lann Tarv to purchase as much as they can from him. Players can also gain a few extra items if they can convince Z’rell to aid them in their hunt for Ketheric’s relic. However, players should do this as quickly as they can. Lann Tarv will likely be made permanently hostile at some point, and not all of his stock can be looted from him.

4

Araj Oblodra

In A Room To The Left Of The Entrance To Moonrise Towers

Araj Oblodra from Baldur's Gate 3
  • In Act Three, Araj has a shop in the Lower City to the east of the Blushing Mermaid.

Araj is a slightly unsettling Drow who first appears in Act Two, and depending on the player’s actions she can also be found later in Act Three’s Lower City Upon locating her in Moonrise Towers. She tells the player that she has an interest in studying the blood of True Souls and she requests a sample of the player’s blood to study.

Baldur’s Gate 3: 11 Most Important Choices In Act 3

The most important choices in Baldur’s Gate 3 lie within the game’s third act, which can have vital consequences for the player and their party.

In Moonrise Towers, she also offers the player a difficult choice to make: she can give the player a Potion of Everlasting Vigour
, permanently increasing the Strength of whoever drinks it. However, it comes at the cost of forcing an unwilling Astarion to drink her blood.

If players aren’t currently romancing Astarion, this is well worth the cost. However, those romancing Astarion may want to be careful, as it’s likely that this decision will end a romantic relationship with the pouty vampire spawn on the spot.

3

Lorroakan

In The Sorcerous Sundries Building

Baldur's Gate 3 Lorroakan Boss Fight
  • Lorroakan is found within Act Three, located in his tower within the Lower City.

Players should be well aware of Lorroakan and his shop, Sorcerous Sundries, by the time they reach Act Three. He’s been mentioned by name in a certain story quest for a while by the time they meet him. While Rolan may be the merchant for players who make certain choices in earlier parts of the story, a projection of Lorroakan will likely replace him at some point.

He carries several great items, including Armour of Landfall
as a particularly good choice for Druids. Quickspell Gloves
allow spellcasters the option to cast a cantrip as a bonus action once per Short Rest. Birthright to help raise Charisma, and several other fantastic items that are especially versatile and well worth the gold.

2

Zara the Mummy

One Of The Vendors In The Circus Of Last Days

Baldurs Gate 3 Circus Zara
  • Has a very exclusive inventory of specialty goods not commonly found elsewhere.

It’s possible to finish the whole of BG3 without going to the Circus of Last Days. It’s a detailed area with several quests and interesting NPCs, and the vendors here sell unique items that are difficult to find. Zara the Mummy is one of these vendors and only carries a few items; various dyes, a disguise kit, a face-painting kit, and scrolls of Disguise Self
.

Figaro Pennygood

In The Lower City, South Of The Baldur’s Gate Waypoint

figaro pennygood bg3
  • Figaro and his sister, Carmen of Carm’s Garms, have an interesting rivalry between their similar inventory.

Though Figaro may not have items as useful as many other merchants in the Gate, especially as an Act Three merchant, he is an absolute must for players obsessed with dyeing their gear. He has a huge range of dyes to choose from, but that’s not all.

If players can manage to save him from a certain Bhaal-obsessed serial killer creeping around the Gate, they’ll receive a huge discount on his stock. He also carries expensive, rare, and aesthetically pleasing pieces of camp clothing, so players should be sure to keep their eye out for Facemaker’s Boutique in the Lower City.
