- The skin was initially reserved for fans who signed up for Sega’s online newsletter before the game’s release.
Sonic X Shadow Generations players can now get the previously exclusive Sonic Jam DLC skin completely free of charge. October 2024’s Sonic X Shadow Generations came packed with nostalgia for fans of the blue blur and his more angst-fueled hedgehog rival, as it featured a remaster of the 2011 anniversary title Sonic Generations that included remixed versions of classic levels from previous Sonic games. The new Sonic X Shadow Generations package added a new Shadow-centric campaign that similarly allowed players to run through some of the character’s most famous stages and battle some of his worst enemies.
Players looking to boost the nostalgia factor of Sonic X Shadow Generations even further could choose from a small assortment of alternate, classic-themed DLC skins for both playable hedgehogs. Sonic’s was based on his Sega Dreamcast-era Sonic Adventure appearance and Shadow got a look themed after ‘Terios,’ a prototype version of the black blur designed for Sonic Adventure 2. Fans who signed up for Sega’s online newsletter before the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations could also gain access to yet another Sonic skin inspired by Sonic Jam, an obscure Sega Saturn title that was basically a collection of the four main Sonic Sega Genesis titles.
