While Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket players have been asking for trades since the game first launched, many seem upset with the details now that the feature is actually on its way.
In Japan’s morning hours of January 17, the developers of Pokemon TCG Pocket revealed new trading details that are planned for inclusion in the game at some point in the future, likely before the end of January. This trading system will allow players to make trades with friends for a select group of cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island pulls, provided that cards being traded are of the same rarity, and players will have to spend some amount of an unannounced item to participate in each trade.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Aren’t Impressed With the Achievement Rewards
Pokemon TCG Pocket players express frustration and disappointment over a particular aspect of the Achievement rewards, and they have a point.
According to a recent post on the game’s official Twitter account, the developers of the free-to-play Pokemon game recognize that players have concerns about how trading will be implemented in Pokemon TCG Pocket and appreciate that those players are eager to provide feedback. The post states that the development team plans to take player feedback into account when designing the future of the mobile trading card game, but the wording of the post indicates that the developers would like players to avoid jumping the gun in offering criticism or advice before they’ve even tried out the upcoming feature. “This way, the game can continue to evolve in an enjoyable way for everyone,” it states.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Developers Will Address Trading Concerns, But Not Yet
Some of the concerns being issued by players in advance of the feature’s release are linked to planned trading restrictions in Pokemon TCG Pocket. The three Genetic Apex sets and the Mythical Island mini-set are the only packs that players can regularly open without participating in some sort of special event, but the developers plan on adding more booster packs within the next two weeks. Additionally, cards exceeding a one-star rarity will be exempt from the trading feature at launch, and from the description provided by the developers, it sounds like players won’t be able to put up promo cards for trade either.
Others have expressed worry that the items needed for trading may be difficult to obtain or, worse, require microtransactions. Pokemon TCG Pocket is a free-to-play game, but it allows players to buy a premium currency called Poke Gold that can be spent on things like additional pack openings and reductions in the stamina cooldown timer. The game also has a subscription-based Premium Pass, which grants bonuses like unique promo cards. However, many fans feel that the Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass isn’t worth the cost of its subscription, which may be fueling speculation that the trading feature may be for paying customers only.
