Fortnite Battle Royale players are going to have to wait just a little longer to get their hands on the King of Monsters, Godzilla, for their lockers.

For those who want to become Godzilla in Fortnite, a handy guide with all the information they need to know can be found below, where players can get the details they need on how to spawn Godzilla, how his move set works, and how long they can actually play as him before the Battle Royale mpa returns to normal.

How to Be Godzilla in Fortnite Battle Royale

Upon loading into a match of Battle Royale or Zero Build in the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 map, there will be a 20% chance that a Godzilla Rift Portal will open up during Storm 1’s entry. While 20% might seem low, that’s still a 1 in 5 chance that the Godzilla Portal will spawn, and it’s extremely hard to miss since an alert will activate on every player’s screen saying “Security Alert: Godzilla Portal is Open!

Once this security alert notifies players, check the map to see where exactly the portal is. The portal is also indicated in-game with a Godzilla icon that will show just how far away it is. The portal’s spawn is completely random, but it will always be within the next zone, so try to stay around the center, and bring a fast car and plenty of shields as it’ll be a battle against 99 other players to try and get it.

The first person to run inside the portal will become Godzilla, and then the rest of the lobby has one common enemy to fight: Godzilla. Luckily, Godzilla packs a wild punch, and eliminating Godzilla will not eliminate the player who was him.

Godzilla’s Move Set in Fortnite Battle Royale

Once players spawn in as Godzilla, they will have a health bar at the bottom left of the screen that is also slowly drains as time goes on. Other players can damage Godzilla to try and weaken him, but even if Godzilla takes barely any damage, he can’t last longer than 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

During this time as Godzilla, players have 3 moves that they can use to try and eliminate as many players as possible:

  • Roar (X/A/Space) – Godzilla’s roar will not only be intimidating to hear, but it also reveals players within the vicinity of Godzilla so he knows exactly where to go to get more kills.
  • Stomp (L2/LT/Right-Mouse) – Godzilla’s stomp deals near to 100 damage, and while it’s a slow wind-up, it will send opponents flying. It’s great for deleting structures and has a large splash damage area.
  • Atomic Breath (R2/RT/Left-Mouse) – Firing a purple beam of death, Godzilla’s atomic breath deals absurd damage, and while Godzilla can’t turn or aim the breath that fast past its initial fire, being caught in the beam deals around 250 damage within about 3 seconds.

Once Godzilla is eliminated, the player who was Godzilla will glide down from the sky with the loadout they had before becoming Godzilla, but they will have 0 Shields.

How to Beat Godzilla in Fortnite & Get the Godzilla Medallion

There are two efficient ways to beat Godzilla in Fortnite. The first way is to simply avoid him, and run as far away as possible since his health is connected to a time limit anyway. However, players who want to try and get the Godzilla Medallion will need to deal the most damage to Godzilla (without being killed). Godzilla’s hitbox is incredibly large, and the easiest way to deal damage to him is with Assault Rifles like the Holo-Twister, and of course, the incredibly powerful single-shot Rail Gun, and the lethal explosive Quad Launcher.

Damaging Godzilla has a chance to drop Godzilla’s Fragment, which is a shard that provides 40 health along with 3 charges of a Dash (double jump to activate). Also, while Godzilla is active, Monarch Air Drops will spawn which provides Ral Guns, Quad Launchers, ammunition, and Shield Bubbles to fight against Godzilla.

The player who has dealt the most damage to Godzilla is rewarded with Godzilla’s Medallion, which gives players charges of Dash over time for quick bursts of mobility.
