Elden Ring Nightreign Returning Boss Wish List

Elden Ring Nightreign Returning Boss Wish List

Elden Ring Nightreign‘s announcement took fans by surprise for a number of reasons. Firstly, Elden Ring Nightreign‘s development was kept completely secret from the gaming public, which is a rare thing for a modern AAA game, especially one from such a renowned franchise. Secondly, Elden Ring Nightreign is unlike anything FromSoftware has ever made before.

Based on its reveal trailer and accompanying press release, Elden Ring Nightreign seems like an odd fusion of roguelike and action-RPG, with a dash of battle royale thrown in for good measure. Nightreign is an entirely new beast for FromSoftware to handle, but it seems to be balancing the new with plenty of old. While Elden Ring Nightreign will have plenty of new bosses for players to go up against, it’ll also feature a few returning bosses from FromSoft’s past, and there are a few more familiar faces who should make the cut.

Elden Ring Nightreign Would Feel Incomplete Without One Large Chunk of the Lands Between

Given the split of maps in the base game, another side to Elden Ring Nightreign’s promised new region still isn’t out of the question.

FromSoftware Bosses Who Should Return in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring’s Dragonlord Placidusax

It’s not confirmed that any of Elden Ring‘s base game bosses will return for Nightreign, but that seems likely given that FromSoftware is looking to the rest of its back-catalog to fill the spinoff’s roster. And if any of Elden Ring‘s bosses deserve to reappear, it’s Dragonlord Placidusax. One of Elden Ring‘s many dragon boss fights, and arguably its best, Dragonlord Placidusax is a hulking set piece that would fit Nightreign‘s 3-player co-op action perfectly.

Dark Souls 3’s Lothric and Lorian

Elden Ring Nightreign‘s reveal trailer seemed to tease the return of Dark Souls 3‘s beloved Nameless King/King of Storms, but that shouldn’t be the only boss pulled from Dark Souls 3. DS3 has no shortage of riveting boss fights, but one that would fit Nightreign‘s gameplay particularly well is the duel against the monarch brothers, Lothric and Lorian. While some of the party focuses on dealing damage to the sword-wielding Lorian, the rest can attack Lothric to ensure he doesn’t heal his brother.

Dark Souls 2’s Fume Knight

While Dark Souls 2 is still very much the black sheep of the series, it’s still home to some incredible boss fights. Dark Souls 2‘s DLC boss, Fume Knight, is one such encounter, making a name for himself by dual-wielding a giant flaming greatsword and a rapier. While The Duke’s Dear Freja is already set to appear in Elden Ring Nightreign, it’d be great to get Fume Knight in there as well.

Dark Souls’ Smough and Ornstein

The first Dark Souls was many fans’ introduction to FromSoftware’s genre-defining action-RPG formula, and as such, many of Dark Souls‘ bosses have gone down as some of the best in video game history. Smough and Ornstein are right at the top of that list, delivering a duo boss fight that would feel right at home in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Bloodborne’s Cleric Beast

Currently, there are no Bloodborne bosses set to return in Elden Ring Nightreign, and that needs to change. Though the rate of attacks might need to be tweaked to fit Elden Ring‘s slightly slower-paced combat, a beast boss such as the Cleric Beast could be a great fit for Elden Ring Nightreign.
