Soniqs Says Goodbye TGLTN And PUBG Team In Falcons Aquisition

Soniqs has parted ways with their storied PUBG roster and star player James “TGLTN” Giezen with the players signing on with Falcons Esports.

With the move, Australian superstar TGLTN, Tristan “Shrimzy” Nowicki, Matt “Kickstart” Smith, Hunter “hwinn” Winn, and Owen “GUNNER” Monahan will join the Saudi-backed organization, as Soniqs goes through what appears to be a tumultuous time.

Former Soniqs Roster and TGLTN Sign With Falcons Esports

News of the departure and signing concludes a two-day shuffle of players and rosters that started with Falcons dropping with their former roster on Jan 14. Then, on the morning of Jan. 15, Soniqs announced the departure of their highly successful PUBG roster. Finally, the former Soniqs players were announced as the new Falcons PUBG lineup later that day.

The move brings one of the most decorated PUBG lineups ever under the Falcons banner. Soniqs have more than a dozen S-Tier event victories to their name, led by TGLTN.

Crucially, the former Soniqs roster were the winners of the first ever Esports World Cup 2024 PUBG event, humbling a Team Falcons roster which only managed to place 11th. And following a common Falcons Esports adage, if you can’t beat them, just acquire them.

What’s Happening to Soniqs?

North American esports org Soniqs has undergone a dramatic decline in fortunes over the past few months. Despite boasting 12 championships in PUBG, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and other titles, the organization in December 2024 saw the departure of their long-time CEO Darren Moore.

Rumors have since swirled that Soniqs the organization is struggling financially, and may be looking for a sale or acquisition. Certainly the departure and seeming sale of their most-successful roster implies that the organization is in need of cash – and the Saudi-backed Falcons Esports is definitely a worthy buyer.

With the acquisition Falcons have picked up another superstar roster – but unlike many of their other prizes, the PUBG landscape is fickle and has big interregional rivalries with the likes of FaZe, TSM, and international pressure from talent like Twisted Minds, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro.

With the EWC 2025 lumbering into view, can this roster become the first repeat winners, or will they stumble as Falcons lineups often do on the biggest stages.
