Warframe’s
Sol System is always in a state of change. From major content updates to systemic systems like Fissures, there’s almost always something new to sink your teeth into. Razorback Armada is firmly in that latter category, acting as a player-triggered event that adds a new boss to the game.

Fending off the army of Razorbacks will require the use of Razorback Ciphers, a new consumable item that you can only craft during this event. In this guide, we cover how the Razorback Armada event works, how to craft Razorback Ciphers to start the event, where you can find Cryptoglyphic Alu, and give a brief overview of how the Razorback fight works.
What Is Razorback Armada?
After the Corpus win a significant number of Invasion conflicts, the Razorback Armada event will activate, adding a limited-time boss fight to the game that you can access by crafting Razorback Ciphers. This event generally occurs every three months and lasts four days.
Once the Razorback Armada is deployed to a local relay, the Lotus will send you schematics to craft a Razorback Cipher. This is a unique gear item that you’ll need Cryptographic Alu to forge, a resource that only drops during this event. Farm for alu, forge a cipher, then take the fight to the armada.
Defeating your first three Razorbacks will award a built Orokin Catalyst and 200,000 Credits. Subsequent kills drop loot from Razorback’s drop table, including the 120% Puncture mod set, elemental/status hybrid mods for Archwing, and components for the Gorgon Wraith.
Crafting Razorback Ciphers
Each Razorback fight requires you to bring a Razorback Cipher, a gear item that you’ll need to craft beforehand. Lotus will automatically send you the crafting schematics for the Razorback Cipher when you log into the game; you just need to craft it.
Razorback Cipher Crafting Requirements |
|
---|---|
1,500 Polymer Bundle |

4 Cryptographic Alu |

Credit Cost: 1,250 |

Upon crafting a Razorback Cipher, be sure to equip it in your Gear wheel in the arsenal so you can start the mission. Defeating the Razorback will consume your cipher, requiring you to forge another before you can fight the Razorback again.

How To Get Cryptographic Alu
Cryptographic Alu is a rare drop from Corpus Archwing enemies during the Razorback Armada event. You’ll find these enemies on Archwing mission nodes orbiting Jupiter and Neptune.
If you’ve unlocked Railjack
, you can also find these enemies in any Corpus-owned Proxima—Venus, Neptune, Pluto, and the Veil Proxima.
Killing any Corpus Archwing unit has a small chance of dropping this resource, which you can influence with Resource Drop Chance boosters and any Warframe/Archwing abilities that affect drop rates. Additionally, Cryptographic Alu is affected by Resource Boosters and, surprisingly, the Resourceful Retriever mod on companions. Despite not having active companions in Archwing, Resourceful Retriever still works in Archwing missions.
The Best Cryptographic Alu Farm
If you’re looking to farm Cryptographic Alu quickly, your best option is Salacia, Neptune. This is a mobile defense mission with abnormally high enemy density for an Archwing mission, spawning Corpus units in droves while you’re defending a satellite. Bring an Amesha to make yourself virtually unkillable.
No other farming strategy comes close to Salacia on
Steel Path
or even Normal Path difficulty. If you can’t stand farming Archwing mobile defense, your only efficient option is to clear Exterminate Railjack missions in Corpus territory. Calabash, Veil Proxima is the best tile for this. If you aren’t that far in Railjack yet, you can run Bifrost Echo, Venus instead.
Razorback Boss Guide
The Razorback Cipher must be in your Gear wheel before you can start the mission.
We highly recommend crafting multiple Ciphers as well; bring at least 20.
The Razorback mission is a variant of the Jackal boss on Venus, although its mechanics are entirely different and much more focused on hacking. When you reach the boss arena, use your Razorback Cipher to unlock the door. Walking inside the arena will start the boss fight.
By default, the Razorback is impervious to all damage and will continuously spawn adds during the fight. To make the boss vulnerable, you must hack terminals on the upper floor of the arena. Look for two balconies across from one another. You’ll need to hack both to spawn a Bursa on each side. Kill the Bursas and hack them.
Doing so will cause the Bursa units to become allies, redirecting their firepower towards the Razorback. This will cause the Razorback to slump over for a few seconds, giving you a chance to damage it. Remove 25% of its HP and repeat the process until it’s destroyed. You’ll receive your Razorback reward when your squad extracts.
